THE ART

To begin, the art is stylish Ed McGuinness. The artist rose to fame with his incredible work on Deadpool in the 1990s and with the famous Superman/Batman series. With writer Joe Kelly, his run on the new Hulk series and the first appearance of Red Hulk won him critical acclaim. In the new Avengers series, McGuinness’ hulking physiques, imposing perspective and above all, David Curiel’s full-coloring make the comic a true present.

Though Curiel’s coloring matches the tone of the story arc with the right contrast between vibrancy and darkness, McGuinness’ pencils of Marvel powerhouses may lack distinctiveness. Notably, his Savage She-Hulk lacks her usual feminity and her squared jaw makes her more masculine. Nevertheless, McGuinness excels at action and the panel below shows his mastery!

THE FIGHT

In a short skirmish, a Savage She-Hulk battles Ghost Rider in Los Angeles after Eson the Searcher attacks them with monster bugs.
