In our article, we list our 5 popular Hollywood black actresses and celebrities that fought against kidnappings in America. In 2017, Black celebrities fought to find 14 missing black girls in Washington D.C. Though the Instagram post was the subject of misinformation, the kidnappings of black people does not receive enough attention.

Over the years, Hollywood cinema has produced horror movies inspired from real-life kidnappings. Today, you can also find the old kidnapping and dismemberment story of a Hollywood man.

5. SHANOLA HAMPTON

Certainly, Shanola Hampton is an acclaimed star in Hollywood. Importantly, her portrayal in women’s issues and crime drama have won her acclaim. With Poster of the Month contender Found (2023), the actress and producer along with creator Nkechi Okoro Carroll, tell the story of kidnappings of marginalized people. Indeed, the show was inspired from the story of the 14 missing black girls. Her work remains an entertainment about the important achievements of Black women in Hollywood.

4. SOLEDAD O’BRIEN

As an actress and journalist, Soledad O’Brien is a well-known expert on race in America. In 2021, the four-part docu-series Black and Missing aired on HBO. In the show, Soledad O’Brien and director Geeta Gandbhir team up to produce the series. Importantly, the Black and Missing Foundation’s co-founders, Natalie and Derrica Wilson investigate about cases of missing black women and people of color.

Positives: Celibrity status, Work on documenting race relations in America, NAACP and EMMY awards.

Negatives: Not enough work on Hollywood and its culture.

Some important films in his television include NCIS: Los Angeles (2009), NCIS: Hawaiʻi (2021). In 2017, LL Cool J was among the celebrities who responded to the misinformed Instagram post.

Positives: Iconic status, more than 40 movies, TV shows, and albums, Fought against racism and injustice.

Negatives: More mainstream recognition is needed.

2. TARAJI P. HENSON

In America, Taraji P. Henson may be the most popular Black actress. Certainly, the actress and producer is among the highest-paid Black actresses. Also, she starred in No Good Deed (2014) with co-star Idris Elba. Indeed, the movie features a horrifying kidnapping by a black fugitive.

Positives: Pop-culture actress, among highest-paid.

Negatives: None.

1. VIOLA DAVIS

Gloriously, Viola Davis may be the top highest-paid Black actress in Hollywood. Particularly, she has starred in more than 50 films, shows and earned multiple Awards among them a 2016 Oscar Award. A well-known actress in Hollywood, producer, philanthropist and activist. In 2023, Davis brought awareness to missing black girls with an Instagram post.

Positives: Hollywood celebrity, TIME Most Influential list, Activist.

Negatives: None.
