Londinium Series: This Year, the Ellen Ochoa Flight Suit for Space Missions Is on Display at the Witte Museum in San Antonio

LONDINIUM SERIES

This year, the Witte Museum in San Antonio is hosting Surviving Space: Astronauts & Asteroids exhibit about space exploration. Among the NASA artifacts on display, are Dr. Ellen Ochoa’s space-suit. In 1993, she became the first Hispanic female astronaut with her mission in space.

Ellen Ochoa was born in 1958 in Los Angeles, California.

She is a classical flute player and played with the Stanford Symphony Orchestra. She received the Student Soloist Award.

She has participated in four space flights and has logged nearly 1,000 hours in space.
