Witte Museum Exhibit

This year, the Witte Museum in San Antonio is hosting Surviving Space: Astronauts & Asteroids exhibit about space exploration. Among the NASA artifacts on display, are Dr. Ellen Ochoa’s space-suit. In 1993, she became the first Hispanic female astronaut with her mission in space.

Ellen Ochoa

• Ellen Ochoa was born in 1958 in Los Angeles, California.

• She is a classical flute player and played with the Stanford Symphony Orchestra. She received the Student Soloist Award.

• She has participated in four space flights and has logged nearly 1,000 hours in space.
