BENDIS IS PENNING THE JUSTICE LEAGUE VS LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES MINI-SERIES

Recently, DC Comics chose superstar writer and artist Brian Bendis to develop the Legion of Super-Heroes TV show for HBO Max. Really, the writer was elated. Since Dark Nights: Death Metal, DC Comics has rebooted its entire line of comics with Infinite Frontier.

Since then, the Legion has been enjoying a revival. This year, the new Justice League vs Legion of Super-Heroes mini-series debuted. From Infinite Frontier, it continues Darkseid‘s quest for The Great Darkness. Moreover, an homage to the classic Legion story arc called The Great Darkness with Darkseid at its villain.

“HBO Max has put me to work on a LEGION OF SUPERHEROES TV SHOW,” Bendis revealed. “At the moment it is being developed as an adult animated show.  Can you tell I am jumping up and down about this? I’ve been working on it for a while and last week I was sent to the next phase.”

WHY THE LEGION IS THE FUTURE OF DC COMICS

IT RESTORES THE SILVER AGE ADVENTURES OF SUPERBOY WITH THE LEGION

In Superman (2019) #14, Superboy officially joins the Legion of Super-Heroes. With Rogol Zaar, destroying the Kryptonian houses and the galaxy on the brink of war, Superboy presents a powerful agreement. When the Kryptonians arrive, they tell the factions to cease hostilities. Courageously, Jon Kent tells them that Earth has a system called the United Nations to arbitrate conflicts.

Similarly, they could set up the United Planets. Suddenly, a blue light forms and the Legion appear for the first time since Rebirth. Solemnly, they ask the creator of the United Planets to join the Legion. Previously, we presented a rumor where Superman would become the ambassador of the League of Planets. Here, it is Superboy who eventually joins the Legion of Super-Heroes. Really, this restores the Silver Age Superboy adventures with the Legion.

THE 31ST CENTURY IS SUPERMAN’S LEGACY

Certainly, the DC Universe: Rebirth is about legacies, families and traditions. What makes the Legion of Super-Heroes important is because the super-team was formed as a result of Superman’s heroism. In fact, the 31st century has played a determinant role in DC’s major events. Perhaps, from DC One Million, Jon Kent is Superman Secundus

Moreover, Jon becomes Superman after his father leaves for space to fight on Warworld. In Final Crisis, Superman ends up in the 31st century where Brainiac 5 shows him the Miracle Machine. In a few moments, Superman memorizes it in order to re-build it in the 21st century. Later, it is used to restore the DC multiverse. In the end, Superman and the heroes inspire the formation of a utopia on Earth.

AFTER A BRUSH WITH DEATH, KNOCKOUT MOVES IN WITH SUPERBOY

In ‘Superboy’ (1995) #22, Knockout comes to Hawaii and decides to move in with Superboy. Firstly, Superboy returns from his trip to the 31st century. As a result, the Legion of Superheroes have gifted Superboy with a Legion Flight Ring. Because of his success, Superboy is elated.

As Superboy celebrates, Knockout attacks him on the beach of The Compound, in Hawaii. Quickly, she is on top of him. Then, Superboy responds and knocks her into the waters. Thrilled, Knockout comes out laughing. After her brush with death during the Suicide Squad mission, Knockout finally decides to move in with Superboy. Evidently, Superboy is surprised.

AFTER A PLANE ACCIDENT, KILLER FROST COMES TO HAWAII

In the next few pages, we turn our attention to Killer Frost. After a plane accident in the Hawaiian airspace, Frost emerges from the wreckage. During the “Underworld Unleashed” event, the supervillain’s heat absorption powers have been amped by the demon Neron. Elsewhere, at the Compound, the Boy of Steel notices that it is snowing. Subsequently, after giving Roxanne his Legion Flight Ring to watch after, Superboy flies away with Knockout in order to investigate.

Normally, temperatures do not reach below 60 degress in Hawaii as reporter Tana Moon states in her reporting. However, Frost has brought a blizzard to Honolulu, converting the city into “a cold, crystalline palace.”1 Later, during the battle between Killer Frost and Superboy and Knockout, we find out that the supervillain is headed for the volcano Kilauea Caldera.

SUPERBOY’S AND KNOCKOUT’S GROOVY TEAM-UP ENDS UP IN A KISS

Decisively, Superboy uses his TTK to end the fight then Knockout slams a gas tank onto Killer Frost. Finally, the fight ends with the superhero pair’s victory. If Knockout is fire, Superboy is ice. However, while looking for the heroine amidst the fire, Knockout grabs Superboy from behind.

In conclusion, the powerhouse kisses the Boy of Steel. Moreover, Knockout tells him the thrill of the fight makes her come alive and she promises to teach Superboy. Later, Tana Moon reports that Killer Frost’s body is nowhere to be found.

TEAM-UPS

IN ‘FUTURE STATE: SUPERMAN: WORLDS OF WAR’, SUPERMAN FIGHTS IN GLADIATORIAL COMBATS ON WARWORLD

In ‘Future State: Superman: Worlds Of War’ (2021) #1, a powerless Superman fights in gladiatorial combats on Warworld. Superman is absent from Earth and groups of worshippers have gathered in Smallville to worship and remember him. Sadie, a young girl from Gotham City, arrives in Smallville. She meets with a group of people that were saved by Superman. As the people recount Superman’s superhuman deeds, Sadie reveals to them that the one that saved her was not Superman, but Clark.

In ‘Future State: Superman: Worlds Of War’ (2021) #2, Superman attempts to free the slaves on Warworld. In his latest combat, Superman loses his right eye and fails to protect a slave called Eyiitsha. Attracting Mongul’s attention, Mongul kills Superman. Imprisoned in a room, Mongul reminds Superman he is Mongul’s slave and that he has killed him many times in the past. He wants Superman to become his soldier and massacre everyone on Earth. However, Superman vows to free all the slaves on Warworld and have Mongul pay for every life he has taken before he returns to Earth..

‘SUPERMAN AND THE AUTHORITY’ TEAM-UPS TO FREE SLAVES ON WARWORLD

In ‘Future State: Superman: Worlds Of War’ (2021) #1, Superman has enlisted Midnighter’s help on Warworld. As he attempts to help Superman, he receives a “mystery box” from a familiar voice. The voice tells Midnighter Trojan Solutions is developing an isotope similar to Kryptonite capable of eradicating all life. Midnight accepts the mission to save Superman and the galaxy. Midnighter attempts to teleport with the Door, but it will not work. The mysterious voice helps Midnighter get on the Chrysalis space station and infiltrate Trojan Solutions.

In ‘Future State: Superman: Worlds Of War’ (2021) #2, Midnighter has infiltrated Trojan Solutions. 10 years into the future, in the control room, he meets an Apollo facsimile. In reality, Apollo turns out to be a cyborg called Andrej Trojan, founder of Trojan Solutions. His hatred for organic life, caused him to evolve into a cyborg. Using Warworld waste, he synthesized a mineral called Nirhodium in order to eradicate organic life. Using his supercomputer and his past self, Midnighter defeats Andrej. He returns to the present on Warworld and manages to blow up the Chrysalis orbital station.

In a solicit, DC Comics revealed the purpose of the upcoming ‘Superman and The Authority’ mini-series.

Superman And The Authority #1 (Of 4)

  • Written by GRANT MORRISON
  • Art by MIKEL JANIN
  • On Sale July 20
  • If Superman is to free the prisoners of Warworld, he’s going to need help, the kind of help that doesn’t scream “Justice League.” Fortunately, multi-Eisner Award-winning writer Grant Morrison (Wonder Woman: Earth One, The Green Lantern) and fan-favorite artist Mikel Janín (Batman, Future State: Superman: Worlds of War) have the solution in the form of a new four-issue limited series, Superman and The Authority.
  • Launching July 20, this new team will be led by Manchester Black, and combine original members Midnighter and Apollo with new members Enchantress and Natasha Irons, as well as new versions of Lightray and O.M.A.C. This new team will have to learn to work together, and fast, as the Ultra-Humanite has formed his own team of villains to take out the Man of Steel.
  • This new limited series will help launch an all-new status quo for Superman, setting up story elements that will impact both Action Comics and Superman: Son of Kal-El in the months to come.

FAN THEORY: ‘SUPERMAN AND THE AUTHORITY’ SETS UP SUPERMAN AS AMBASSADOR TO THE UNITED PLANETS

In 'Superman #28', the United Planet Brigade puts an end to Superman's fight with Synmar.

THE SYNMAR UTOPICA BATTLE PROVES SUPERMAN IS THE TRUE PROTECTOR OF THE GALAXY

Bleeding Cool reported a year ago on the ‘Superman and the Authority’ scoop. DC wanted to shake the Superman status-quo and showed Superman at the head of a more violent and brutal form of superheroing as featured on Warworld. The article hinted at Superman becoming King of The Earth in relation to the United Planets. This is also a reference to the “Mythological” storyline that ran in ‘Superman’ #25-28.

In ‘Superman’ (2020) #25, we are told the origin story of the Synmar alien Eisno Alkor. The aliens on Synmar watched the destruction of Krypton and Kal-El rocketed to Earth. They understood that a Kryptonian exposed to a yellow sun could become a light-god. Some Synmar wanted to destroy the child but they were stopped by President Dreti who told them the Lords of Light, deities worshipped on Synmar, strictly forbid the murder of an innocent child.

In 'Superman' (2020) #26, Superman attempts to communicate with Synmar in the Phantom Zone in human and alien languages.
In ‘Superman’ (2020) #26, Superman attempts to communicate with Synmar in the Phantom Zone in human and alien languages. AP Photo/DC Comics.

Eisno Alkor was a young soldier chosen by the Synmar as a protection against Superman. President Dreti had a conversation with Eisno and told him he would represent the Synmar across the galaxy. Eisno accepted the duty. Back from a successful space mission, the people celebrate Eisno and declare Synmar Utopica. That night, the officials at the Synmar Palace are murdered with images of Superman hanging there. In ‘Superman’ #26-27, Synmar and Superman battle at the Daily Planet and in the Phantom Zone.

In ‘Superman’ (2021) #28, Synmar brings Superman to Synmar in order to inspire the people. Galana, Synmar’s light partner, connects Superman to the light of Synmar. Galana explains to Superman that Synmar Utopica was meant to protect Synmar against Superman. However, Eisno or Synmar Utopica became a conqueror and murdered his people. Superman offers his help. Since Synmar orbits an orange sun, Galana equips Superman with a suit to fight evenly. Superman emerges victorious from his battle with Synmar.

WHAT IS THE UNITED PLANETS BRIGADE?

The United Planets is a governing body active in the 30th and the 31st centuries. They are defended by the Legion of Superheroes and the Science Police. In the 21st century, the United Planets were created by Superman’s son, Jonathan Kent, soon afterward being offered a place among the Legion of Superheroes.

The United Planets Brigade are a powerful cosmic force that intervene in the inter-galactic conflict between Superman and Synmar. After Superman and the Synmar military have ended Eisno Akor’s rule, the United Planets intervene to cease the battle. The fan theory is that, ‘Superman and the Authority’ on Warworld foreshadows Superman becoming the protector of the Milky Way galaxy.

Though the other members of the brigade are completely unknown, readers will recognize the provenance of several members. Earlier in the series, it was revealed that the Synmar have a history of conflict with the winged Thanagarians, so the presence of a leader in traditional Hawkman armor isn’t surprising. Then there’s Prince Zerep of Tamaran, a completely new character from the homeworld of popular Teen Titans member Starfire. Sharing Tamaranean physiology, Zerep possesses the same power set as Starfire, including energy absorption and channeling, flight, along with superhuman strength and durability. This gathering represents some of the supreme powers of the DC Universe offering up their delegates – there’s even an armored Dominator near the front of the group.

Super Power: The DC Hierarchy Of Intelligence From 12th Level Intellect And Down According To The Races

IN POWER LEVEL

THE DC HIERARCHY OF INTELLIGENCE HAS COLUANS AS ITS STANDARD

Coluans. AP Photo/DC Comics.

Firstly, the DC hierarchy of intelligence includes alien races, gods, metahumans, cosmic beings and humans. At the top of the classic DC hierarchy of intelligence are the Coluans. Second, the ranking system stems from the intelligence system from the planet Colu.

Originally, Coluans are aliens from the planet Colu. Historically, heir political system is as advanced technarchy where machines rule the everyday lives of Coluans. In fact, Colu is ruled by the Computer Tyrants, sentient machines that regulate every aspect of Coluan life.

To contrast, this is different from Krypton’s former system of government. Here, an advanced state of science and technology created a caste system. However, In both regimes, genetic engineering has reached a very advanced state. Indeed, disease is eradicated and the lifespan is prolonged.

As matter of fact, Coluans through genetic manipulation are able to live up to 3600 Earth years.

Certainly, Coluans have a very advanced state of technology and science. As a result, the average citizen on Colu has an 8th-level intellect. Clearly, Colu’s intelligence system is the product of its super-science and of a world ruled by logic, not emotion. In fact, on Colu, life is conserved in immortal cybernetic forms.

THE DC HIERARCHY OF INTELLIGENCE

Since the Silver Age, Brainiac has been recognized as the most intelligent being in the DC Universe. By Coluan standards, Brainiac is a 12th level intellect. Some time ago, Vril Dox I escaped Colu and Vril Dox II liberated the planet from the Computer Tyrants.

Finally, Vril Dox I’s psyche inhabited a robot and became Brainiac. According to his programming, Brainiac can to convert all life in the Milky Way galaxy to digital information. As matter of fact, this process may occur in a matter of hours and bottle life on his Skull Ship.

GENIUSES ON 21ST CENTURY EARTH

Similarly, the DC hierarchy of intelligence uses the Coluan system of intelligence. However, Earth continues to use the term “genius”. To this end, the term denotes individuals with tremendous or superhuman intellectual capabilities.

On Earth, there are different geniuses by category, specialty and capability.

NEAR SUPER-GENIUS:

Here, these are individuals that are the apex of human achievement. Incredibly, they have the resources to conquer the Earth, stop alien invasions and destabilize other planets. In fact, their achievements in science, technology, business and politics involve power over a planet.

Or, the ability to conquer other alien races, and plan against/for universal catastrophes.
