For more information, visit our DC vs Marvel article to see how Darkseid with the Anti-Life Equation vs Thanos with the Infinity Gauntlet compare in Formidability Rating.

LEX LUTHOR WANTS TO JOIN THE JUSTICE LEAGUE

Previously, Jessica Cruz was chosen by the Ring of Volthoom. After the demise of the Criime Syndicate, the Ring wanted her as the new Power Ring. Elsewhere, at Wayne Manor, Lex Luthor confronts Bruce Wayne. Finally, he has deduced that Bruce Wayne is Batman. Before Lex can continue his accusations, Alfred mounts his gun at the criminal’s temple. Quickly, Bruce knocks Lex down. When Lex notices a clock on the wall, he blows it.

Then, the passage to the Batcave appears behind the rubble. In reality, the billionnaire has come to join forces with the Batman. In fact, he believes a threat is coming to Earth. After Batman tells him a modified tale of the scorpion and the frog, Lex departs. Suddenly, Superman and Wonder Woman alert Bruce. In Oregon, a green energy detonation has been detected. Fortunately, the Doom Patrol arrive to help.

THE JUSTICE LEAGUE AND THE DOOM PATROL FIGHT OVER JESSICA’S LOBOTOMY

In Justice League (2014) #33, the Doom Patrol and the Justice League fight. Previously, the Doom Patrol had come to recruit Jessica Cruz. When her powers are out of control, they elect drastic measures. Heroically, Luthor arrives to save the day. In fact, he threatens to blow Chief’s spine out. Meanwhile, the Ring reveals why he chose Jessica. As matter of fact, she is the lone survivor from a murder attempt by two gunmen in the woods. When Jessica realizes it, a big explosion follows.

Strangely, the detonation reaches to Anti-Monitor. Sinisterly, she tells him of Prime Earth. Dangerously, the cosmic being promises to “consume it.”1 As the fight rages, Lex tells Batman his plan. As matter of fact, the Ring of Volthoom works like a power ring: indeed, it works on emotion. If Luthor can use shock therapy on Jessica’s synapses, he can severe her emotional connection. Drastically, Chief favors psycho-surgery, an euphemism for lobotomy.

BATMAN SAVES THE DAY

But Batman saves the day. Courageously, he reaches out to within Jessica’s energy field. Honestly, he tells her he too is a victim. In addition, she should face her fear. Instead of fearing the darkness, she should embrace it. Reassuringly, Jessica takes Batman’s hand. Together, they summon their wills and Jessica manages to extinguish the Ring of Volthoom’s blast. Finally, Batman tells Lex they never needed him to save the day.

In fact, the Justice League held the Doom Patrol back for Batman, not Luthor. Sternly, Lex replies: “But you will.”1 Later, Batman advises Superman and Wonder Woman to recruit Lex Luthor. For two reasons: In order to keep him in check and investigate Lexcorp. Though Superman opposes revealing their secret identities. Eventually, Superman formally welcomes Lex Luthor into the Justice League. To end, he lays down some ground rules.

Overpowered Beings: Super-Charged With The Speed Force, Barry Allen Is #TheAngelOfTheDCMultiverse

BARRY ALLEN IS #THEANGELOFTHEDCMULTIVERSE

In 'DC Universe' (2008) #0, Barry Allen falls from the sky, resurrected in Final Crisis.
In DC Universe (2008) #0, Barry Allen falls from the sky, resurrected in Final Crisis. DC Comics.

To begin, Barry Allen was always destined for great things. In Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox [Blu-ray], the animated film begins with Nora Allen and her son, Barry. When their car breaks down, Nora teaches Barry about the Serenity prayer: “accepting the things that can’t be changed, having the courage to change those that can, and have wisdom to know the difference.”

Fans of The Flash: Season 1, know Barry’s mother was murdered when he was a boy. In fact, the time-traveling and archnemesis Reverse-Flash was the one responsible for her murder. Steadily, Flash has been gaining power-ups every season and adding muscle! However, in the comic medium, the superhero is on another level.

In our article, we choose Barry Allen as “TheAngelOfTheDCMultiverse.” Why is that?

BARRY ALLEN DISCOVERED THE DC MULTIVERSE

Notably, the concept of the DC multiverse important to continuity was introduced in Flash (1961) #123, titled, “The Flash Of Two Worlds. Importantly, the issue established that Barry Allen (Earth-One) and Jay Garrick (Earth-Two) existed on two parallel Earths existing in the same space but vibrating at different frequencies. From there, stories featuring different versions of the same hero or different teams were understood as happening on parallel Earths.

BARRY ALLEN RETURNED TO PROTECT THE DC MULTIVERSE IN FINAL CRISIS

Perhaps, revealing Barry’s true manifest destiny. After his heroic sacrifice in Crisis On Infinite Earths, Barry returned with renewed purpose. So, who had a hand in the Flash’s return? The Monitors? The New Gods? The Source? As matter of fact, it was Zoom who zipped the Flash out of the Speed Force. In DC Universe (2008) #0, Barry Allen falls from the sky, resurrected in Final Crisis. In the issue, Barry states he sees the light of heaven, darkness and the DC multiverse.

BARRY CREATED THE POST-FLASHPOINT DC MULTIVERSE

Notably, Flashpoint may have been the most important DC comic of the 2010s. Indeed, within a decade, it has been adapted to The Flash TV series and is the basis for the upcoming Flash movie. What makes it so important is how the personal decisions of a single character can completely alter reality. When Barry went back in time to prevent his mother’s murder, he created an alternate timeline where she was alive. Though, at the end of the series, Flash has to sacrifice what he holds most dear to restore the DC multiverse. Inadvertently, his actions led to the New 52.

OVERPOWERED, FLASH IS A SPEED FORCE CONDUIT

In 'Crisis On Infinite Earths' (1985) #8, Flash time travels to the past to destroy the Anti-Monitor's antimatter canon, sacrificing himself.
In Crisis On Infinite Earths (1985) #8, Flash time travels to the past to destroy the Anti-Monitor’s antimatter canon, sacrificing himself. DC Comics.

Really, Flash is one of the most powerful beings in the DC Universe. After being struck by lightning, Flash became a Speed Force conduit. In the DC Universe, the Speed Force is a dimension in the Sphere of the Gods, beyond the DC multiverse. From the Speed Force, speedsters are powered with an infinite reservoir of kinetic and potential energies.

Moreover, it appears Barry’s limit is the speed of light. As Flash, he is able to break dimensional barriers, race photons and molecules, react in attoseconds, steal speed, enter the Speed Force and escape, enter into the unknowable realm of the Source. Furthermore, Barry can generate lightning, travel in space, fly, negate the Anti-Life Equation, turn invisible, phase, heal rapidly and is capable of heightened mental processes.

All these super powers put Flash at the Multiversal-Level with infinite Energy Projection potential.

WHY BARRY ALLEN IS AN OVERPOWERED BEING

BARRY ONCE RAN SO FAST THAT HE ENTERED THE SOURCE

In 'Super-Team Family' (1978) #15, Flash ran so fast that he entered the Source.
In Super-Team Family (1978) #15, Flash ran so fast that he entered the Source. DC Comics.

In reality, Flash may be a cosmic being or a god! During the Bronze Age, Barry appeared in a New Gods story. In short, the New God Orion needs help! After falling into unconsciousness, Orion has been growing in size. Now, his size threatens the sun.

In his prescience, Highfather commissions Metron, Lightray and Flash to the Source. According to legend, no god may enter the Source or he may die. In truth, these words ring true. From Apokolips, Darkseid learns of the mission and commissions Hagdar the Mad to stop them.

When the Super-Team arrives at the Promethean Galaxy, they are stopped by Darkseid’s minions. However, understanding the Source’s prophecy, Metron sends Flash forth. Only Flash is fast enough to enter the Source.

Later, he mysteriously comes back with a machine that can help Orion.

BARRY ENTERED THE SPEED FORCE RUNNING

In 'The Flash: Rebirth' (2009) #3, Barry Allen runs past the speed of light into the Speed Force.
In The Flash: Rebirth (2009) #3, Barry Allen runs past the speed of light into the Speed Force. DC Comics.

In The Flash: Rebirth (2009) #3, Barry Allen runs past the speed of light into the Speed Force. In the issue, Barry’s speed force aura has been contaminated. Now, he is dying.

In Fallville, the JLA and JSA have put Barry in a containment chamber. To this end, they plan to disconnect him from the Speed Force in order to save his life. And Iris has come to be his “lightning rod.” Suddenly, in bursts of lightning, Barry busts out. With Superman in hot pursuit. Nevertheless, outpacing the Man of Steel, Flash has a plan. As matter of fact, Barry plans to enter the Speed Force in order to save everyone.

At top speed, Barry stretches past the boundaries of the universe. As he moves past the speed of light, he remembers Iris, Wally, his death and his trial. As he enters the Speed Force, he struggles to remember Iris. There, he is greeted by a voice that reminds him of Iris and his name. Soon, he meets Johnny Quick and Max Mercury.

Definitely, a feat requiring a Multiversal-Level of super speed with infinite Energy Projection.

In Who Is Faster Than The Flash? & 9 Other Questions About The Speedster, Answered, David Harth talks about the two Flashes: Barry Allen and Wally West. Perhaps, one of the two Flashes’ greatest feats occurs in Final Crisis. In Final Crisis (2009) #7, Barry and Wally outrace the Black Racer and the radion bullet Darkseid fired 50 years in the past.

As a New God, the Black Racer is the embodiment of Death. Moreover, he has been stated to be the fastest being in existence. In fact, none may outrun Death.

When Darkseid fires the radion bullet at Superman, Barry and Wally arrive. Together, they outrun the Black Racer and the radion bullet vibrating through Darkseid. Then, Black Racer claims Darkseid’s soul.

Here, Barry actually outran a Celestial or abstract being. Talk about an angelic feat of eternal proportions!

AS GOD OF DEATH, HE KILLED DARKSEID

In 'Justice League' (2015) #44, Barry the God of Death kills Darkseid.
In Justice League (2015) #44, Barry the God of Death kills Darkseid. DC Comics.

From #TheAngelOfTheDCMultiverse, Barry became the God of Death. In Darkseid War, Darkseid and Anti-Monitor battled on Prime Earth. Namely, their battle was over Grail, Darkseid’s daughter. In addition, the God of evil sought the Anti-Life Equation.

Between them, the Justice League was caught in the crosshairs. In order to turn the tide, Darkseid summoned Black Racer. However, his plan backfired. Sinisterly, Anti-Monitor fused Black Racer to Flash. Now, Flash became the New God of Death. With the Anti-Life Equation, Mobius blasted Darkseid as the God of Death vibrated through his body.

Perhaps, one of the most talked-about moments in the New 52. Definitely, Barry Allen always performs impressive feats in times of crisis. Though the New God of Death, he proved why he was once #TheAngelOfTheDCMultiverse.

In addition, there were seven negative global ratings. One negative review mentioned an incorrect product delivery: “Seller’s description was for the Omnibus edition, not the essential it was setting. Since Trade Paper Backs reprint different materials, this edition had around 200 pages less than advertised. Attempts to communicate with the seller (Book Depository) were given generic replies of “editions change.” Unfortunately, this isn’t a different edition. Its a different book that shares some content with the one in the description.”

Overall, this graphic novel was great.

ON THEMYSCIRA, GRAIL’S BIRTH FORESHADOWS THE DARKSEID WAR

The Prologue to the Darkseid War is on Themyscira. The Amazons were created by Zeus to bring peace to mankind. After defeating Hercules and his army, the Amazons retreated to the Paradise Island of Themyscira. On a fateful night, Diana was to be born to Queen Hippolyta.

That same night, an abomination was born: She was the daughter of Darkseid and the Amazon assassin Myrina Black. Her name was to be Grail. Menalippe was Hippolyta’s favorite oracle. At the birth of the child, she prophesied Grail would bring about a great darkness: a terrible war “between the dark God and the antiGod.” Eventually, Minalippe and Penelope were left to die by Myrina.

The Justice League are investigating a crime scene. Strangely, they tracked it down because a Boom Tube was open there and two people are dead. Diana narrates the story and reveals the team’s dynamics: Batman and Flash are running tests on the evidence, Hal and Jessica are taking a look at the people in the complex, Shazam and Cyborg are investigating the Boom Tube. When Cyborg locates two other murders of women named “Myrina Black”, an explosion happens.

Grail teleports out of Flash’s mouth and starts tearing the Justice League apart. First, she attacks Batman in a duel then takes out Cyborg and Shazam. Grail proves to be fast, strong and able to emit eye beams.Grail has the advantage over Diana and pins her to a car. Meanwhile, the Green Lanterns intervene but are quickly taken down. Using Power Ring (Jessica Cruz), Grail creates shadows to summon the Anti-Monitor. Sinisterly, the anti-God is here!

WHO ARE THE NEW GODS OF THE JUSTICE LEAGUE?

Grail’s plan in the Darkseid War was to create New Gods in order to gain the Anti-Life Equation. As Batman later finds out, Anti-Monitor’s origin story on Qward sentenced him to destroying the DC multiverse after every cycle of rebirth.

The punishment was because he sought the beginning… Using the Anti-Life Equation, Grail could stop the rebirth of the universe, with a final plan: Superwoman’s son. Who are the New Gods of the Justice League?

THE JUSTICE LEAGUE RECRUIT THE REMAINING CRIME SYNDICATE TO FIGHT ANTI-MONITOR

In order to stop Anti-Monitor and Grail’s Darkseid War, the Justice League have to break the Crime Syndicate out of Belle Reve. Mister Miracle finds a powerless Ultraman and Cyborg and Power Ring find a pregnant Superwoman at Level 0. Ultraman is scared that Anti-Monitor, who previously destroyed Earth 3 is going to destroy Prime Earth. At Superwoman’s cell, Power Ring is contaminated and activates her ring to become Volthoom. As Cyborg attempts to hack into the ring, he re-activates Grid.

Superwoman blasts Mister Miracle and Big Barda with her eyebeams. Then, Owlman breaks a hole in Superwoman’s cell. Onboard the Watchtower, Wonder Woman and the Justice League agree to work with the Crime Syndicate. Diana orders Superman to give Ultraman green kryptonite to recharge. As Ultraman feeds, Owlman gives the JL the codes Lex Luthor provided. The Justice League locates Anti-Monitor. Visit the conclusion of the Darkseid War if you are interested in the comic.
