MARCH BEST SELLERS MOVIE TRENDS

In March, best sellers movie trends come from the horror, thriller and action genres. The recent movies from 2022 on the Top 50 are the blockbusters Top Gun: Maverick (2022), Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022) and the critically-acclaimed The Whale (2022).

With the trailer of Rise of the Beasts, the Transformers film series is trending. In addition, excitement for John Wick: Chapter 4, has John Wick (2014) and John Wick: Chapter 2 (2017) trending. Though the box office has been slow this year, performance should pick up beginning this March.

In March 2016, the box office had a bad performance with blockbuster Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice failing to reach the $1 billion mark. Also, London Has Fallen was a worldwide failure that nearly destroyed Gerard Butler’s stardom.

We list our Top 5 box office picks from March 2016 for popularity and action.

Gotham: To Celebrate “Crisis on Infinite Earths”, We List Every Comic Series that the Arrowverse Crossover Is Based On

DC DAY

TV Promos

IN FRANCHISES, COMIC VALUES AND COLLECTIONS

In 1986, DC Comics published History of the DC Universe. Importantly, the comic changed continuity and introduced a single, unified DC Universe with a shared history. In addition, the DC multiverse was erased from continuity with the five remaining Earths after Crisis On Infinite Earths merging into New Earth.

This January, Crisis On Infinite Earths (1986) #10 was published. Today, we celebrate the Arrowverse crossover (2020) with the comics it was based on.

*Product images vary from actual products.

THE MONITOR’S INTRO IS BASED ON HISTORY OF THE DC UNIVERSE

The Arrowverse (2020) crossover starts with a bang. Certainly, the Monitor’s introduction of the Crisis traces the Big Bang, to the creation of the multiverse to the Crisis on Infinite Earths. Similarly, it recalls Harbinger’s iconic introduction of the destruction of the DC multiverse and the new DC Universe in History of the DC Universe (1986) after the Crisis.

THE ARROWVERSE EVENT IS BASED ON THE ICONIC CRISIS

In five parts, the CW told the story of the Monitor and his quest to stop his opposite, Anti-Monitor, from destroying the DC multiverse. While the events and the outcome differ from the source material, the concept is similar since many characters die and a new, unified universe is created.

IN THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD, THE HEROES MUST PROTECT THE BOOK OF DESTINY

Moreover, the Arrowverse crosover includes an element that is missing from the graphic book: the Book of Destiny. In The Brave and the Bold: The Lords of Luck (2007), Mark Waid and George Perez tell an important story. In the story, the cosmic being known as Destiny, recruits different DC heroes known as Challengers to protect the book of Destiny. Similarly, Monitor learns about the Paragons from the book of Destiny in the show. Visit this article on CBR.com for more information.

THE ENDING PROMISES A REBIRTH

At the end, the DC multiverse is destroyed and a shared universe is created. However, instead of New Earth, Earth-Prime is created in the CW show. In fact, when Oliver Queen sacrifices himself to save the new universe, he promises a Rebirth. This is a reference to DC Rebirth (2016) in the comics, that revamped the DC Universe with a shared reality on Prime Earth.

POSITIVE REVIEW

The customer review said: “bought as a gift.”

NEGATIVE REVIEW

There are 11 negative global ratings. One negative review pointed the poor writing: “I really want to like Justice League, I do. The first half of this book was pretty good, the second half ho hum. But the hard truth is that the banner title of DC has been pretty darn mediocre so far. Group stories are hard to tell, but most of the characters are simply not fleshed out. The big evil is too vague, the action rote. The art is good, but there is no real sense of group dynamics or living characters here.”

Overall, this comic was good.

CONCLUSION

  • Paperback format available.
  • Good customer reviews.

NEGATIVE:

  • Poor writing.

TEAM-UPS

THE JLA ARE BATTLING EPOCH ACROSS TIME WITH HIS CHRONO-CUBE

In ‘JLA/WildC.A.T.s.’ (1997), the JLA and WildC.A.T.s. crossover for the first time. The issue begins with Kid Flash – Wally West, who is to become the Flash – meeting Epoch for the first time. Kid Flash attempts to combust Epoch’s feet by vibrating the air molecules with his fingers. However, Epoch’s armor is 41st century technology.

When Epoch is about to kill Kid Flash, the JLA shows up. Flash wrests all the projectiles at superspeed. Epoch comments that the team has taken control of his Chrono-Cube. Claiming to be a 4D man, Epoch reaches billions of years into the future, and hits Superman with red solar energy. Being a being of pure energy now, Superman survives the attack unscathed. Epoch disappears vowing to destroy the superheroes’ ancestors in the past.

In 'JLA/WildC.A.T.s.' (1997), in 65,000,000 B.C., Epoch encounters a soliton that enhances his suit and allows him to use the Chrono Cube as a power source.

The JLA battle Epoch across the timestream. In 14,000 B.C., Green Lantern saves a distant relative from Epoch. When Flash attempts to reach him, Epoch says his advanced technology makes him slow down to a crawl. In 65,000,000 B.C., at the time of the dinosaurs’ extinction, Epoch encounters a soliton that enhances his armor and enables him to steal the Chrono-Cube as power source.

The JLA end up in 33 AD. Meanwhile, Superman and Green Lantern scan the Earth for the power source and discover it buried in limestone. Then, the JLA activate the drive mechanism with Green Lantern’s power ring focusing all their willpower. They end up transported to the Wildstorm Universe.

In 'JLA/WildC.A.T.s.' (1997), in 33 A.D., the JLA use Green Lantern's power ring to focus their willpower to power the drive mechanism.

TEAM-UP OF THE ’90s DECADE: JLA/WILDC.A.T.s. vs THE SEVEN DEADLY SINS

Eventually, Superman and Mister Majestic are able to settle their differences. The JLA/WildC.A.T.s. teams-up to dispatch the Seven Deadly Sins that had been destroying the Wildstorm Universe. During the battle, Mister Majestic agrees with Void to help return the Justice League home otherwise both universes will be destroyed.

Void takes Green Lantern into voidspace. There, she determines Epoch’s dark nova cracked time “into two parallel waves; two separate histories were created.”1 Void explains the JLA’s technology brought them to the wrong time: to the WildC.A.T.s.’ 1997. In order for the entities in voidspace to help, Green Lantern must teach them how to create light constructs. Using her technology, Void is able “to punch a hole through voidspace. A bridge.”1

IN A FINAL BATTLE, THE JLA AND WILDC.A.T.s. TAKE DOWN EPOCH’S OMEGA ATTRACTOR WITH THE CHRONO-CUBE

The JLA and WildC.A.T.s. travel back to the DC Universe. There, the JLA find out they have been away for five days. The heroes find Epoch has merged with the Omega Attractor, a living computer and bomb from the 68th century. With the Omega Attractor, Epoch has access to weapons across centuries. He uses it to deploy weapons to enslave the world and imprison superheroes on the moon. His plan is to turn Earth “into a vast time-traveling time engine powered by its human slave population.”

The JLA and WildC.A.T.s. team-up to take down Epoch’s citadel. Superman tells Maul his plan. He tells Maul to grow large enough to take down the citadel. In fact, to account for Maul’s mindlessness, a burst of electricity to the right motor neurons should return Maul to his normal size within 30 seconds. Maul succeeds. Since the WildC.A.T.s. are not in Epoch’s database, Superman sends them to take him down. Meanwhile, the JLA are working on the Chrono-Cube. Eventually, Epoch is defeated. The JLA program the Chrono-Cube to create a temporal prison cell around Epoch. Finally, the WildC.A.T.s. return home.

In 'JLA/WildC.A.T.s.' (1997), Maul destroys Epoch's citadel in 30 seconds.

Krypton: The Corruption Of Superboy-Prime Is A Commentary On The Darker Modern Age Of Comics

KRYPTON

IN DC MULTIVERSE

Corrupted by the disappearance of the DC multiverse and the evil in Alexander Luthor, Superboy-Prime became convinced that the darkness in the New Earth continuity was a result of New Earth not being the perfect Earth. For that reason, the heroes living on New Earth were corrupted.

Aided by Alexander Luthor, he embarked on the quest for Earth Prime. This was the Infinite Crisis.

IN SUPER POWER EXPLAINED

Today, we talk about a destructive super power. I speak of the Omega Effect.

On October 12th, we had Metropolis Battles: Doomsday vs Darkseid. Darkseid actually kills Doomsday “with the unsurpassed force of my Omega Beams.”1 A question that has intrigued fans for some time, is to determine the Power Level of the Omega Effect.

What is the destructive super power called the Omega Effect?

Read on!

The Omega Effect is a strange force of entropy, perhaps a destructive side to the often creative nature of the Source.

It is Darkseid‘s possession of the Omega Effect that allows him to fire his Omega Beams from his eyes. These beams are capable of vaporizing, erasing, as energy blasts/energy beams or transmuting any form of matter, living or non-living. They can send/retrieve something from different places, times, dimensions, and even universes.

Darkseid uses his Omega Beam to send Batman back in time at the climax of Final Crisis. From there Batman had to journey through time in order to get back home to his own time period.

It is practically impossible to avoid, dodge or deflect Darkseid’s Omega Beams, as the beams are able to make sharp turns around obstacles and few can withstand a direct hit from them.

Because the Source is Multiversal in Post-Crisis continuity, it might seem that the Omega Effect super power is also Multiversal in Power Level.

Let’s dig our comics!

In ‘Superman/Doomsday: Hunter Prey’ (1994) #1, Doomsday resurrects then guided by Cyborg Superman, lands on Apokolips. There, a brutal confrontation between Darkseid, the God of Evil, and Doomsday, the Ultimate, follows. Darkseid states in the issue, that he can equal Doomsday’s power. If Darkseid can equal Doomsday’s power then he used the full power of the Omega Effect. During the battle, Darkseid uses the destructive super power to kill Doomsday. However, Doomsday comes back from death and evolves beyond the attack. At the end of the battle, as Doomsday defeats Darkseid, Darkseid says that Doomsday is a being of legend, citing the fear he creates.

In 'Superman/Doomsday: Hunter/Prey #3' (1994), Doomsday throws Superman into Calaton's nuclear reactors causing an explosion "equal to a million nuclear blasts."

In 'Superman/Doomsday: Hunter Prey #3' (1994), Superman exclaims he has found his limit and can't move, due to surviving the concussive force of an explosion "equal to a million nuclear blasts" on Calaton. Doomsday survives unscathed!

In ‘Superman/Doomsday: Hunter Prey #3’ (1994), Doomsday and Superman survive an explosion “equal to a million nuclear blasts!”2 This durability feat is Stellar in Power Level and we used it to rate a similar feat.

Since Superman is unable to defeat Doomsday with the help of Mother Box and Waverider, he takes Doomsday to the end of time where the universe is ravaged by the forces of entropy. Doomsday’s destruction ends there. This indicates that Doomsday’s durability is Universal.

As a result, since the Omega Effect succeeded in killing Doomsday once, it is Universal in Power Level. The destructive super power is capable at full power of destroying even the Ultimate. However, Doomsday comes back and evolves from the attack. At the end of time, there is nothing that Doomsday can come back to since the universe is ravaged by the forces of entropy. As Doomsday keeps coming back to an entropic universe, he cannot evolve from entropy, he eventually dies.
