GOD FIGHTS SATAN IN HELL OVER WANDA’S AND HIS CHILD’S SOULS

In ‘Spawn’ #262, Spawn has reached the center of Hell after having fought its armies, in order to rescue Wanda’s soul. However, using his symbiote Spawn contacts God to Hell in order to fight Satan. God in his giant form, states Satan has violated the terms of their agreement. Each were supposed to stay in their domains.

Satan has trespassed. In his “arrogance and lust” to conquer the living and the dead, he has sought the soul of an innocent for a human sacrifice. God battles Satan. Both giants exchange mighty punches. Satan says God is the one trespassing and that something has tricked him. At the same time, he claims to know God’s true form.

SPAWN BATTLES SATAN AND HELLION TO SAVE WANDA AND THE CHILD

Spawn uses the battle between God and Satan as a distraction to save Wanda and the child. Wanda shouts to Spawn to not let them have the child. Then, the child glows with light. Spawn attacks Satan with a blast, then Satan punches him into rocks. Spawn responds with “animal-like viciousness”, slicing Satan’s left hand fingers with a necroplasmic sword.1

Then, Spawn saves Wanda. Satan orders Hellion to kill Spawn, Wanda, and the child since Hellion has the child. Spawn and Hellion trade punches. Then, Hellion blasts Spawn and Wanda. Spawn protects Wanda and both manage to evade the blast. Spawn uses his chains to choke Hellion. He manages to loosen Hellion’s grip. Then Wanda retrieves the child. Spawn carries Wanda and the child as they attempt their escape.

AL (SPAWN) BREAKS HIS PROMISE TO WANDA AND SAVES HER AS SHE GOES TO HEAVEN WITH GOD

Al (Spawn) attempts to carry Wanda and the baby out of Hell. He says he has a plan to save them but only one of them can escape. It has to be Wanda. Wanda asks Al to set them down. She reveals to him that the baby is Spawn’s spirit. She returns the spirit to Al for him to be reborn. She asks Al to promise her to let her stay in Hell since she is dead and to be a hero on Earth who protects his children and all children. Al agrees.

Al turns back to God and Satan and asks to stop the fighting. Al breaks his promise to Wanda. He agrees to return the symbiote to Satan on the condition that Wanda can go to Heaven with God and he leaves Hell a free man. God, taking the form of a small man, agrees and so does Satan. God and Wanda head to Heaven as Al apparently leaves a free man. Satan asks Hellion to follow Al and kill him.

In 'Spawn' (2016) #262, Al Simmons agrees to return the symbiote in exchange for Wanda's freedom to Heaven and his own freedom.
