To begin, Justice is among a series of Elseworlds by Alex Ross on DC mythology. In fact, the graphic novel is a 12-issue limited series that tells the story of the JLA and the Legion of Doom on an Earth similar to the Pre-Crisis Universe.
Moreover, it gives each central character of the JLA a feature cover and tells their story as each member is attacked by the Legion of Doom. Importantly, Captain Marvel (Shazam) emerges as the most powerful of the League who saves Superman and Flash.

One negative review criticized the plot: “[….] However a comic book should have a plot. This comic has the Justice League running all over the planet trying to undo disaster after disaster. After a while, this sucks. Meanwhile the villains have banded together and are offering alternatives to the supes. But you will have to wait until volume 2 when more will be revealed. As a stand alone, the build up is insufficient to induce me to read vol 2. I noted that Krueger and Ross had done a similar cataclysmic tale with Marvel’ s Earth X with equally appalling appeal to me.”
