THE THING’S ROCK-LIKE SKIN CAN WITHSTAND IMMENSE PRESSURES

In Fantastic Four (1981) #235, The Thing carries a bomb from the surface of Ego the living planet to its brain, enduring immense heat and pressure. Marvel Comics.

During the Silver Age, the Fantastic Four first appeared. In Fantastic Four (1961) #1, we learn of the superhero team’s origin story. During the Cold War, a team of astronauts are involved in the Space Race. In order to beat the Communists, Reed Richards, Susan Storm, Johnny Storm and Ben Grimm sneak aboard a rocket. Previously, Ben had warned the team about the need to shield against cosmic rays. Unfortunately, the rocket is bombarded by cosmic rays in space.

In the issue, they acquire super powers and become… the Fantastic Four. Notably, scientist Reed Richards develops the ability to stretch his skin. For her part, Invisible Girl is able to generate force fields and turn invisible. Johnny Storm becomes the Human Torch. And Ben Grimm develops a tough rock-like skin that grants him super strength.

In fact, The Thing’s rock-like skin is highly durable and can withstand injury, impact, pressures and extreme heat. In Fantastic Four (1981) #235, The Thing carries a bomb from the surface of Ego the living planet to its brain, enduring immense heat and pressure. Moreover, Thing is most known for his tremendous super strength.

Let’s list five feats that show Thing may have Planetary-Level of Super Strength.

WHY THING CAN BUST A PLANET

5. STOPPING AN ALIEN CRAFT FROM TAKING OFF FROM EARTH

In 4 (2004) #7, Ben uses his great strength to prevent an alien ship from taking off.
In 4 (2004) #7, Ben uses his great strength to prevent an alien ship from taking off. Marvel Comics.

Critically, the Fantastic Four are the premiere Marvel superhero team. At CBR.com, Evan Hopkins lists At The Four-Front: 15 Fantastic Four Teams Way Better Than The Original. In some sense, what makes them work is their blend of advanced science and adventure.

In 4 (2004) #7, the FF showcase why they have the perfect team-work. To begin, Mister Fantastic and a team of filmmakers are aboard an alien ship. When the aliens prepare for departure, Mister Fantastic begins to predict his team’s next moves.

In fact, he knows Ben will use his great strength to prevent the ship from taking off. However, he also knows the limits of Thing’s super power. In fact, Ben will fail. Next, the second teammate is Sue Storm who will help Ben succeed. Indeed, Reed’s predictions turn out correct.

And considering the amount of thrust for the alien ship to take-off, Thing’s feat is potentially Planetary-Level. According to NASA, rockets require a thrust of 5.3 million pounds to reach escape velocity. Since this is an alien ship, the energy demands are likely higher.

4. GOING TOE TO TOE WITH NAMOR

In Uncanny X-Men (2012) #2, Namor and Thing brawled. Marvel Comics.

Really, Thing deserves more respect in the Marvel Universe. In Uncanny X-Men (2012) #2, Namor and Thing brawled. To this end, the Avengers and X-Men were in search of Hope Summers at Tabula Rasa. Accidentally, the two teams bumped onto each other on the island. After dispatching Luke Cage, King Namor went toe to toe with Thing.

Really, Thing has faced quality opponents. In the past, Namor has fought Hercules who has fought Hulk who has fought… Thing. Indeed, get the idea? And considering the competition, we are talking about at least Planetary-Level.

3. THING HAS BOXED AGAINST CHAMPION CRACKING HIS RIBS

In 'Marvel-Two-In-One Annual' (1982) #7, Thing boxes with Champion for the fate of Earth.
In JLA: Paradise Lost (1998) #3, Martian Manhunter regenerates from a near death experience.

Amazingly, Thing starred in a classic fate of the world story. In Marvel-Two-In-One Annual (1982) #7, Champion makes his first appearance in Marvel continuity. Indeed, Champion has come to Earth for destruction. As an Elder of the Universe, he hosts a boxing competition for the fate of the world.

At CBR.com, Brian Cronin lists the rules of the competition in A Cosmic Being Slowly Realizes That He’ll Never Truly Defeat the Thing. As a result, multiple heroes are disqualified. Only Sasquatch, Colossus, Wonder Man and Thing represent Earth.

Among them, only Thing manages to make a stand. In fact, he lasts against Champion till the third round. During the match, Thing breaks Champion’s ribs. At the end, Champion is victorious in the third round. However, impressed by Thing’s spirit, he decides not to destroy Earth.

And considering Champion once destroyed a planet by jumping several feet in the air and stomping it. Definitely, a feat of Planetary-Level Super Strength.

2. THING TRANSPORTED A BOMB ALONG EGO THE LIVING PLANET TO ITS BRAIN

In 'Fantastic Four' (1981) #235, The Thing carries a bomb from the surface of Ego the living planet to its brain, enduring immense heat and pressure.
In Fantastic Four (1981) #235, The Thing carries a bomb from the surface of Ego the living planet to its brain, enduring immense heat and pressure. Marvel Comics.

Perhaps, one of Thing’s most popular feat. In fact, both a feat of super strength and durability. In Fantastic Four (1981) #235, The Thing carries a bomb from the surface of Ego the living planet to its brain. So doing, Thing endures immense heat and pressure.

And considering Ego is a cosmic being who has tangled with Galactus and Silver Surfer. Since Thing had to climb the planet’s anatomy, this is definitely a Planetary-Level feat.

1. THING WITHSTOOD, PUSHED BACK AND CRUSHED THE HYDRAULO-PRESS.

In 'Fantastic Four' (1969) #92, Ben withstood, pushed back and crushed the Hydraulo-Press.
In Fantastic Four (1969) #92, Ben withstood, pushed back and crushed the Hydraulo-Press. Marvel Comics.

Definitely, Thing’s number one feat. In Fantastic Four (1969) #92, the Skrulls used the Hydraulo-Press against Thing. Powerfully, the weapon could bench press a planet. Dangerously, the Skrulls pressed the weapon down on Thing. Incredibly, Ben withstood, pushed back and crushed it.

And considering the force involved, Thing had to bench press a planet. Definitely, a feat requiring more than 5.972 × 1024 kg, the mass of the Earth.

AFTER THE KREE-SKRULL WAR, THE ILLUMINATI FORMS

In ‘New Avengers: Illuminati’ (2006) #1, the Illuminati forms while Black Panther leaves. To begin, Iron Man has convened a secret meeting in Wakanda with Professor X, Black Bolt, King Namor, Mister Fantastic, Black Panther and Doctor Strange. After the Kree-Skrull War, Iron Man believes the disaster could have been averted if the heroes had shared the pieces of information they possessed. In his prescience, Iron Man proposes to gather the different superhero teams together in order to share resources and information.

Forward in the future, perhaps, the Superhero Registration Act could have been averted had the heroes presented a united front early on. Hopefully, he intends to create a planetary law enforcement to the rest of the universe. Unfortunately, the other attendees do not agree. First, Mister Fantastic questions the scale of the “delegation” and a qualified leadership.1 Second, Doctor Strange raises the problem of bureaucracy. Third, Professor X states Iron Man’s proposition is based on the new fear of the Avengers after the War. Fourth, Black Panther predicts that humans and mutant heroes alike would end up hated together.

KING NAMOR VOTES IN FAVOR OF FORMING THE ILLUMINATI

Fifth, King Namor points out that the Avengers have recruited terrorists such as Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver and Hawkeye. In addition, he tells of rumors of a Canadian mutant working as an assassin referring to Wolverine. Finally, he questions whether Black Bolt’s brother who was the architect of the invasion, was executed for his crimes.Nevertheless, Mister Fantastic sees merit in sharing information to save lives.

In fact, Doctor Strange suggests they meet privately and Mister Fantastic agrees for the “big things.”1 For his part, Namor trusts the attendees but asks for secrecy. Though he is hesitant, Professor X agrees to scan the minds of everyone at Iron Man’s request. Decisively, Mister Fantastic decides to put forming the team to a vote. All are in favor, except Black Panther. Sternly, he questions the group’s cohesion and the need for secrecy. Then, he departs.

OPPOSING THE HULK DECISION, NAMOR PREDICTS HULK WILL SEEK VENGEANCE ON THE ILLUMINATI

In a recent rampage in Las Vegas, Hulk killed 26 people and a dog. During the S.H.I.E.L.D. briefing, Maria Hill questions what the heroes are doing about the situation. Similarly, she relates Hulk’s lack of control and sporadic heroism to Spider-Man and his unwillingness to finish off Green Goblin alias Norman Osborn. For its part, the government is looking to blame the heroes for their inaction. Some time later, during “House of M,” the Illuminati convene at the Avengers Hydrobase, a former base of operations.

Sinisterly, Iron Man proposes to rocket Hulk into space on an abandoned planet where he will not hurt anyone. Angrily, Namor accuses the heroes of not doing enough to help cure Bruce Banner and opposes the decision. Strongly, Mister Fantastic defends his work in attempting to cure Thing and dampen Hulk; even, Doctor Strange’s attempts to banish Hulk at the crossroads. In reverse, Namor sees the move as retaliation for the Avengers’ failure to prevent House of M.

KING NAMOR VOTES AGAINST HULK’S EXILE

Nevertheless, Mister Fantastic puts it to a vote: Iron Man, Mister Fantastic, Black Bolt and Doctor Strange vote in favor. Violently, Namor attacks Iron Man. To no avail, Mister Fantastic tries to restrain him but Namor goes in pursuit. Sluggishly, the two heroes slug it out underwater. Until, Doctor Strange puts an end to the brawl by encasing both in spells.

Again, King Namor opposes the decision. Prophetically, he predicts Hulk will come back to Earth and he will kill the Illuminati. In fact, he will be correct. Now free, Namor plunges into the waters stating that T’Challa was also correct. Due to “House of M,” Professor X was absent from the vote.

HULK INVADES EARTH AND FORCES THE ILLUMINATI PRISONERS TO FIGHT AS GLADIATORS

When World War Hulk invaded the Earth, he set up a gladiatorial arena in New York City. In ‘World War Hulk’ (2007) #4, Hulk forces the Illuminati to fight as gladiators. Strapped with Obedience Disks, Iron Man, Mister Fantastic, a “Black Bolt” usurper and Doctor Strange fight against a Devil Korker from Sakaar.

Together, they work in team and manage to defeat the monster. Then, in a twist, World War Hulk activates their Obedience Disks to force them to fight each other to the death. When Mister Fantastic defeats Tony Stark, he fights against giving him the killing blow. Heroically, Tony tells him it is the right thing in order to save billions. Sinisterly, Hulk gives Iron Man the thumbs down.

SUPER POWER

The Knight

IN POWER LEVEL

BLACK BOLT HAS GALAXY POWER LEVEL

In 'Fantastic Four' (1993) #375, Black Bolt overloads Doctor Doom with his voice using Mister Fantastic's Optimizer.

Among Marvel superheroes, Black Bolt is a powerhouse. As Inhuman King, the silent monarch hosts a plethora of super powers: super strength, super speed, superhuman durability, a powerful sonic scream, matter and energy manipulation, particle and electron harnessing and manipulation.

On his brow, Black Bolt has a metallic fork-shaped antenna. In order to channel his particle and electron super powers, Black Bolt focuses them with his antenna. Let’s look at how Black Bolt’s chief super powers extend to the Galaxy Level.

SONIC SCREAM

In 'Fantastic Four' (1993) #375, Black Bolt overloads Doctor Doom with his voice using Mister Fantastic's Optimizer.

In ‘Fantastic Four’ (1993) #375, Doctor Doom has stolen Aron the rogue Watcher’s powers. Given that Uatu the Watcher’s power can shake a galaxy, Aron is comparably Galaxy Level. In order to stop Doctor Doom, the Fantastic Four and the Inhumans have teamed up. Ingeniously, Mister Fantastic has invented the Optimizer.

In short, it is a machine that absorbs Doctor Doom’s cosmic energy from his storage battery and fires it back at him. In this instance, Black Bolt speaks his sonic scream into the Optimizer and fires it at Doctor Doom. As a result, Doctor Doom’s storage battery is overloaded till he reaches critical mass. In the end, Doom vanishes in an explosion.

Definitely, Black Bolt demonstrated a Galaxy Level of Energy Projection since he was able to overload Doctor Doom’s storage battery.

PARTICLE AND ELECTRON MANIPULATION

In 'Marvel Two-In-One Annual' (1979) #4, Black Bolt uses his electron manipulation to stop a solar flare.

In ‘Marvel Two-In-One Annual’ (1979) #4, Black Bolt performs an incredible feat. During a battle against Graviton, Black Bolt has to stop a solar flare from striking the Earth. Incredibly, Black Bolt uses his electron manipulation powers to stop the solar flare.

Considering a solar flare produces 1032 ergs per second or 1025 Watts of power, Black Bolt demonstrated a Stellar Level of Energy Projection.

SUPER STRENGTH

In 'War of Kings' (2009) #1, Black Bolt and Gladiator battle.

In ‘War of Kings’ (2009) #1, Emperor Vulcan is at the head of the Shi’ar Empire. Meanwhile, Black Bolt rules the Kree. In a declaration of war, Vulcan attacks the Kree. During an all-out war, Black Bolt attacks Gladiator and briefly overpowers him. In the meantime, White Noise has to put an end to the fight.

Considering Gladiator has Stellar Level Super Strength, Black Bolt demonstrated a Stellar Level of Super Strength.

VS GALACTUS

In 'Doctor Strange' (2018) #16, Black Bolt amped by magic staggers Galactus with a powerful scream.
In Doctor Strange (2018) #16, Black Bolt amped by magic staggers Galactus with a scream. Marvel Comics.

Really, a feat that has been talked about on the Internet. In Doctor Strange (2018) #16, Galactus returns to the Marvel Universe. Previously, Galactus sated his hunger in another dimension. Now, he has returned to conquer the Marvel Universe.

In order to stop the Devourer of Worlds, Doctor Strange assembles a coalition of mages and cosmic heroes. Together, they battle the Star God. Though, their efforts are futile. Indeed, Galactus will not be conquered.

Alone, Black Bolt steps forward. Moreover, amped by magic, he delivers a powerful sonic scream. Incredibly, the sonic scream staggers Galactus. At a time when Galactus did not have his jobber aura, he was still a cosmic force.

In The Last Galactus Story: Chapter Seven (1985), a sated Galactus once survived the gravitational force at the core of the Milky Way galaxy. Definitely, considering the incredible durability, Black Bolt performed a Galaxy-Level of Energy Projection.

Definitely, Black Bolt is as powerful as a herald of Galactus. Let’s list the Top 4 heralds in terms of energy manipulation.

In ‘Incredible Hulk’ (1980) #250, Silver Surfer is stranded on Earth and seeks the help of Bruce Banner. In order to break through Galactus’s space barrier, Bruce Banner constructs machinery to bombard the Silver Surfer with gamma rays. Soon, the gamma-powered Silver Surfer goes into space to break the barrier.

After a gamma ray explosion, Bruce Banner transforms into the Hulk. Returning from space for more power, Surfer ends up fighting the Green Behemoth. On Silver Surfer’s surfboard, they end in space. There, Surfer has the idea of absorbing Hulk‘s gamma ray radiation. Afterwards, Hulk reverts to Bruce Banner.

Eventually, Surfer breaks the space barrier. However, the Sentinel of the Spaceways has to return to Earth to save Bruce in free fall, who fell off Surfer’s surfboard. Finally, Surfer has to return Bruce’s gamma power to save him, transforminging him into the Hulk. In the end, the Silver Surfer is again trapped on Earth.

2. STARDUST, ‘STORMBREAKER: THE SAGA OF BETA-RAY BILL’ (2005) #4

In 'Stormbreaker: The Saga of Beta-Ray Bill' (2005) #4, Stardust opens a portal to a black hole.
In ‘Stormbreaker: The Saga of Beta-Ray Bill’ (2005) #4, Stardust opens a portal to a black hole. AP Photo/Marvel Comics.

In “The 10 Most Powerful Heralds of Galactus, Ranked”, Chris White at CBR.com ranks Stardust number three. Namely, Stardust was the last surviving member of his race known as the Etherals. In fact, these were beings of pure energy. Named Lambda-Zero, she became Stardust, a ruthless and murderous herald of Galactus.

In ‘Stormbreaker: The Saga of Beta-Ray Bill’ (2005) #4, Stardust and Beta-Ray Bill engage in a cosmic clash over Galactus’ attempt to feed on New Korbin. In order to assist in her struggle, Stardust summons Asteroth. When the demon causes untold damage, both fighters agree to battle field remove it.

Uncannily, one of Stardust’s super powers with the Power Cosmic is to open portals to black holes. In order to BFR Asteroth, Stardust opens a portal to a black hole. Though, the ploy fails and both Stardust and Beta-Ray Bill begin to be sucked in.

In the end, they are saved by Alpha Ray who drives the evil spirit into the black hole.

3. NOVA, ‘SILVER SURFER’ (1987) #9

In 'Silver Surfer' (1987) #9, Nova destroys a sun to create a black hole.
In ‘Silver Surfer’ (1987) #9, Nova destroys a sun to create a black hole. AP Photo/Marvel Comics.

In ‘Silver Surfer’ (1987) #9, Nova and Silver Surfer have to save Galactus from the Elders of the Universe. In a grand scheme, they have built a device powered by the Soul Gems to destroy Galactus. Mischievously, they have kidnapped Shalla Bal and Mantis in order to lure the Silver Surfer. In exchange for the women’s freedoms, Surfer hands over the Soul Gem.

However, the Grandmaster sends the women in a ball of energy that will explode if touched. Unfortunately, Norrin manages to save only Shalla Bal. Angrily, the Surfer vows to make them pay and departs to save Galactus. Meanwhile, the Elders of the Universe have activated their machine which is slowly killing the Devourer of Worlds.

Under Surfer’s direction, Nova triggers a star to collapse into a black hole. Miraculously, Galactus can recover by feeding on the energies. Meanwhile, some of the Elders and the Soul Gems are sucked into the black hole.

Definitely, a feat requiring a high end energy manipulation. On a scale, it requires the power output of a galaxy within seconds. Without a doubt, a Galaxy Level of Energy Projection.

4. FIRELORD, ‘AVENGERS’ (1989) #302

In 'Avengers' (1989) #302, Firelord removes the flames off Invisible Woman's construct in re-entry.

In ‘Avengers’ (1989) #302, Firelord removes the flames off Invisible Woman’s construct in re-entry. Considering Firelord withstood heat from re-entry, this is both an energy projection feat and a durability feat.

SHE-HULK’S AND TITANIA’S BRIEF ORIGIN STORIES

SHE-HULK’S SOLO DEBUT

In ‘Savage She-Hulk’ (1980) #1, She-Hulk makes her first sensational debut. To begin, Bruce Banner is on the run from the police. In the issue, he has come to seek Jennifer Walters’ help. Fearfully, Bruce confides his secret to his cousin. Learning he is the Hulk, she decides to take him home. Jennifer tells Bruce she is working on a criminal law case. In fact, she is defending a hood called Monkton accused of killing Trask’s bodyguard.

JENNIFER WALTERS BECOMES SHE-HULK

On the way, Jennifer is shot by Trask’s men. Frantically, he takes her to a doctor’s office. Unfortunately, there is no one available at the door and Bruce breaks in. Quickly, he performs a blood transfusion since they are the same blood type. Later, at the hospital, Jennifer is attacked by three of Trask’s henchmen. Overcoming chloroform intoxication, Jennifer transforms into… She-Hulk. Then, she is in hot pursuit of Trask’s men later capturing them.

TITANIA’S BACK STORY

In ‘She-Hulk’ (2005) #10, we learn about Titania’s back story. In space, an alien visits the Watcher named Zoma. Strangely, he wants information on Titania. In fact, he requires it in order to destroy their common enemy: She-Hulk.

BORN MARY MACPHERRAN

Surely, Zoma tells him Titania was born prematurely in Denver, Colorado. As a result, she was born tiny with stunted development. Indeed, her real name is Mary McPherran. Over the years, Mary developed fantasies about prince charming and fairy tales. Entering the public school system, her classmates rejected her for being small and “puny.”1 Only Marsha Rosenberg accepted her who was made fun of because of her weight.

MARY MACPHERRAN BECOMES TITANIA

As an adult, Mary fantasized about her friends’ successful lives. When she discovered comic books, she fantasized about gaining superpowers and getting revenge on her enemies. In ‘Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars’ (1984) #3, Mary and Marsha were transported to Battleworld by Beyonder. There, they were granted super powers by Doctor Doom. To sum, Mary became Titania and Marsha became Volcana.

ON BATTLEWORLD, THE RIVALRY BEGINS

In ‘Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars’ (1984) #3, the Wrecking Crew bring an ominous present to the heroes. More to the point, it is the near-lifeless body of the Wasp. Frantically, She-Hulk brings her to Zsaji for healing. Despite her gifts, Zsaji is unable to heal Wasp. Horrified, Hawkeye pronounces her dead.

As the heroes contemplate fighting back, Captain America warns them of a Galactus attack. On her own, She-Hulk goes to seek revenge. At Doombase, She-Hulk makes short work of the Wrecking Crew. Then, the Avenger meets Titania. Defiantly, Titania believes herself a Titan and the strongest. When she meets She-Hulk for the first time, she tests her super strength against her match.

EXHIBIT A: MAYHEM AND “CUDDLES” (FLIRTATIOUS)

In ‘Solo Avengers’ (1989) #14, Jennifer Walters is at the Supreme Court arguing aginst the Mutant Registration Act. Suddenly, she is interrupted by a man who tells her she is urgently needed. Recognizing Avenger business, Court goes into recess.

While she changes into costume in a phone booth, a police officer holds off a crowd of onlookers. Excited, the officer takes a peek. To this, she reacts by noting that all men are pigs. Outside, She-Hulk finds her playmate, Titania. Angrily, Titania is thrashing a car and spelling her name.

“Hi, Cuddles.”2 To begin, She-Hulk greets the powerhouse with a tap on her right shoulder. Indeed, She-Hulk/Titania matches are plenty of playful banter. In some sense, the two powerhouses flirt in order to size up one another.

Next, as the pair exchanges a question and answer, She-Hulk lands a punch that sends Titania flying before she can finish her sentence. Really, the punch packed a wallop landing the villain across the Potomic in Virginia.

“FIRST TIME WE MET, BABYCAKES...”2 In Round Three of the match, Titania references the first battle on Battleworld. Chaotically, she slams a car onto She-Hulk.

To end the match, She-Hulk reminds Titania of a truism: The madder Hulk gets, the stronger he gets. After an explosion, She-Hulk holds Titania by the throat. Angry, she convinces the criminal to turn herself in and reform.

EXHIBIT B: “GREENIE” AND REVENGE (FEISTY)

In ‘She-Hulk’ (2005) #11, the She-Hulk/Titania rivalry plays for keeps. In the issue, the former Champion of the Universe has bestowed Titania with the Power Gem. Chiefly, it is for the purpose of revenge on She-Hulk. When the villain sees Champion can no longer re-claim the Power Gem, she drops a rock on him.

Then, she’s off to revenge. After thrashing the Excelsior Apartments, Titania destroys Timely Plaza. There, the powerhouse meets She-Hulk and Doc Samson. At the time, She-Hulk wore a Jupiter Suit in order to control her super powers. During the fight, Doc Samson is knocked out. “Really? From love taps like that?”3 Jennifer’s first thumping attack creates a bounce back. Once again, Titania starts a fight.

Ha. Trust me, honey, today I’m just full of possibilities.3 After a punch that rocked an explosion, Titania caught it full-on with ease. The phrase, perhaps an innuendo presaged Titania’s superiority and the dark turn of their rivalry.

Certainly, given their history, we can wonder whether the She-Hulk/Titania rivalry is a relationship. Particularly, we address this in Exhibit C. In many respects, She-Hulk and Titania play off each other very well.

“face it, Greenie.” These are Titania’s words before landing the final blow. With a stomp, She-Hulk loses consciousness and reverts to her human form.

Definitely, the rivalry is feisty. Here, Titania plays for keeps and with the Power Gem she has infinite super strength. In this battle, She-Hulk likely does not survive.

EXHIBIT C: EMPLOYMENT AND “GIRL” (FLIRTATIOUS)

In ‘Sensational She-Hulk’ (1993) #52, Titania seeks redemption from her criminal career. To begin, Mister Fantastic needs to examine She-Hulk. During a battle with War Zone, She-Hulk was sprayed with a gas. To this end, Reed sends Thing to collect Jennifer at Libido’s Boutique.

There, Mary MacPherran is applying for a job. However, she loses her temper when she is turned down due to her criminal past. When Titania starts destroying the place, Jennifer comes out of the fitting room to fight her. Then let’s get busy, shall we?4

“You’re such a pushover today, girl.”4 Here, the She-Hulk/Titania relationship gets more personal. In fact, dare we say more romantic? At Nerdist, Eric Diaz states later in their history, Jennifer even helped Titania set up a pawn shop. Though, it didn’t last. Of course, the two ladies are fighting in a lingerie shop.

On her first punch, She-Hulk comments that Titania may have gotten tougher. In fact, Titania even punches the heroine into Thing. Then, she throws her onto the streets of New York. When Titania has gained the upper hand, she stops and smells roses. Definitely, this is a flirtatious move by the powerhouse. In the end, it turns out She-Hulk has been losing her strength due to the gas.

INVISIBLE WOMAN’S FORCE FIELDS CAN SURVIVE A BLACK HOLE

Invisible Woman is one of the Marvel powerhouses. To boot, her power extends to the Galaxy Level. Her main super power is the power to create force fields or force field bubbles. She has created force fields to withstand blows from Luke Cage, or to restrain Absorbing Man. In ‘Fantastic Four Unlimited’ (1993) #3, Invisible Woman proved why she is one of the most powerful members of the Fantastic Four.

In a scientific expedition to the Negative Zone, the Fantastic Four, Blastaar and Annihilus ended up inside a vortex or black hole. The team was protected by Annihilus’ cosmic control rod and Blastaar’s helmet. As they were being sucked into the vortex by its distortion waves, their tech starting wearing off and Reed started fearing for their lives. At that moment, Sue came to their rescue and created a force field inside the black hole. Thus, she proved why her power may be without limit!

Let’s list down Sue Storm’s five most fantastic super powers.

INVISIBLE WOMAN’S FIVE FANTASTIC SUPER POWERS

PSIONIC FORCE FIELDS

In ‘Fantastic Four’ (1986) #286, the Avengers have recovered a strange capsule from Jamaica Bay containing life. During the night, as Captain America and Mister Fantastic are studying it, the capsule begins levitating. A young girl steps out and levitates the Avengers and Fantastic Four pinning them to the ceiling. She thinks they are Steven Lang’s duplicates. Invisible Woman arrives and takes her down. As the girl attempts her telekinesis on Invisible Woman, Sue blocks it with force fields. She frees the others from the X-Man’s control. Later, they find out the young girl is the X-Man Marvel Girl, long missing for years.

Perhaps, Invisible Woman’s most famous super power is the ability to turn herself and other objects and persons invisible. Susan is able to manipulate ambient cosmic energy for a variety of effects. In ‘Silver Surfer’ (1987) #15, Invisible Woman has to trade the Silver Surfer’s life in exchange for the Soul Gems. She shoots him with an invisible gun before he can react.

COSMIC RAY AWARENESS

Invisible Woman has a form of cosmic awareness. In ‘Fantastic Four’ (2002) #62, Sue has turned Reed invisible so that he can work undetected in Times Square, New York. As Reed is working on mathematical equations, Sue asks him how it is possible for her to see him while he is invisible.

Cosmic Ray Awareness: Sue’s retina are able to detect cosmic rays as well as visible light. This allows her to perceive her own force fields and other invisible objects and, with concentration, can also provide her with a limited form of vision, allowing her to “see” even if blinded.

Oddly, Invisible Woman shares a super power with the Fantastic Four. In ‘Marvel 2-In-One’ (2018) #3, Reed Richards sends Thing and the Human Torch a message that he needs help as he is in danger in another universe. However, Human Torch has been experiencing some power loss and needs help. Then, Thing takes him to see Hercules who requested assistance from Zeus deprived him of his godly super powers. Surely, Surely, Hercules takes them to see Rachna Koul, a scientist that helps superheroes and supervillains with super power issues for money. Rachna tells them that the Fanastic Four have a super power synergism and the farther away they are from each other, the more they will lose their super powers.

Fantastic Four Power Synergism: The original members of the Fantastic Four are tethered to each other, and act as as their own conduits of power. They can be apart within their own universe and retain a connection, but prolonged periods cut off from each other in other universes result in a gradual decline in power levels. If they spend too much time separated this way, they would eventually become powerless.

STAN LEE’S FAVORITE VILLAIN

Doctor Doom was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. Originally, the character first appeared in Fantastic Four Vol. 1 (1962) #5.

Interviewed by leukemia survivor KJ Ricci, Stan Lee revealed Doctor Doom is his favorite supervillain. The legendary writer said he does not see Doom as a villain and would like to clear his name.

PER IGN: MARVEL’S GREATEST VILLAIN

IGN’S TOP 100 COMIC BOOK VILLAINS OF ALL TIME

In 2009, IGN counted down the Top 100 Comic Book Villains Of All Time from both DC and Marvel comics. The list features some of the best villains in the two universes such as Magneto, Thanos, Black Adam and Joker. The list even ranks our own Doctor Doom.

On the list, Doctor Doom ranked number three. In 2019, IGN would rank Doctor Doom as the greatest Marvel villain of all time citing his supreme arrogance and lust for power. Let’s look at reasons why this is the case.

Doctor Doom.
Doctor Doom. AP Photo/Marvel Comics.

ORIGIN STORY

Doctor Doom’s origin story is one of tragedy and crime. Victor von Doom was born to gypsy parents. His mother dealt in the dark arts. Tragically, a bargain with Mephisto went awry and the demon claimed Victor’s mother’s soul. Victor studied magic in Latveria then science in America to reclaim his mother’s soul.

Victor Von Doom, Reed Richards and Ben Grimm studied at State University, New York. Apparently, Ben may have been responsible for Victor becoming Doctor Doom. Combining magic and science, Victor’s experiment failed and his face was scarred. Donning armor and mask, he became… Doctor Doom.

CHARACTER MOTIVATION

What makes Doom a great villain is the fact that he originally was not a villain. His dedication to saving his mother is understandable though the means he uses are abhorrent. In many respects, Doom is a product of his upbringing: tortured, lonely and violent.

Doom’s central motivation is his belief that the world can find peace only under Doomworld. In many respects, this is the belief of all tyrants which shows that Doom’s belief actually stems from those tragic circumstances that developed his lust for power. Why is Doom’s Marvel greatest villain? He has conviction and unmatched willpower.

Doctor Doom’s story is that of tragedy and crime. AP Photo/Marvel Comics

VILLAIN OR ANTI-HERO?

Early stories showcase Doctor Doom as an exclusive Fantastic Four villain. IGN even considers him a fifth member of the Fantastic Four as its necessary antagonist. What makes Doom an interesting villain are his motivations. Ultimately, though he always seeks ultimate power as his goal, his purposes are always devious.

Of course, his final goal is world domination but his methods are infinite. As head of state of Latveria, Doom uses the vast resources at his disposal to do war against the Fantastic Four and Marvel Earth. In some portrayals Doctor Doom has allied himself with the forces of good to face a common enemy. In “Infinity Gauntlet,” Doctor Doom even allied himself to the heroes who banded together to fight Thanos. However, it is always for a devious purpose.

POWERS: SCIENCE AND MAGIC

Doctor Doom is one of the most brilliant minds on Marvel Earth, rivaling Mister Fantastic in scientific expertise. A rarity, Doom has managed to unite both science and magic, upgrading his armor with spells, cosmic energy and other sources of power. What makes Doom so dangerous is his skill in both departments and his viciousness, since he is willing to go to any lengths in order to further his power.

Multiple times, Doctor Doom has succeeded in achieving ultimate power. Doctor Doom managed to steal the Beyonder’s power and become the Supreme Being of the Marvel Universe. In the “Avengers: Emperor Doom” storyline, Doom became the benevolent Emperor Doom who succeeded in bringing peace on Earth with the Purple Man’s psycho-prism. In the “Secret Wars” event, Doom stole the Beyonders’ power again, this time, to re-make reality in his image. Indeed, a feat not even Thanos has achieved.

In a classic story from the ’60s, Doctor Doom proves his grandiloquence by trapping Silver Surfer and stealing the Power Cosmic.

IN UNIVERSAL AND MULTIVERSAL ANOMALIES

“SECRET WARS” REBOOTED THE MARVEL MULTIVERSE

In “Secret Wars” (2015), the Marvel multiverse is being destroyed by the multiversal entities known as the Beyonders. Only two remaining universes remain: the main Marvel universe and the Ultimate universe. In the Beyond, Doctor Doom meets with the Beyonders in order to save the remaining universes. Originlly, Molecule Man was designed by the Beyonders as a bomb that would destroy the multiverse. Using Molecule Men as bombs, Doctor Doom and Doctor Strange killed the Beyonders and stole their power.

During the incursions between Earth-616 and Earth-1610, Mister Fantastic built the Future Foundation Life Rafts to transport the survivors to the incursion points. Suffering a hull breach, they nevertheless survived and were transported to Battleworld, created by Doctor Doom. On Battleworld, Doctor Doom was worshipped as God on a world of controlled chaos. There, the Life Raft and the Cabal opposed Doom’s reign. In the end, Doom was defeated and Molecule Man destroyed Battleworld, rebooting the mainstream Marvel universe. In the end, the Ultimate universe was no more.

MILES MORALES JOINED THE MAINSTREAM MARVEL UNIVERSE

In ‘Secret Wars’ (2015) #6, the Maker’s and Reed Richards plans are set into motion. Miles Morales and Spider-Man go off to the White Room to find Doom’s source of power. There, in front of Molecule Man’s statue, they find Valeria, Doctor Doom’s daughter on Battleworld but who is actually Reed Richards’ daughter. After a brief discussion with her, the two Spider-Men enter the white room. Inside, they find Molecule Man there who asks them if they brought him something to eat. Surprisingly, Miles Morales takes out a three week-old hamburger from his pocket and gives it to Molecule Man.

Fully fed, Spider-Man asks Molecule Man about Doctor Doom’s power source. Molecule Man tells them they are looking at him. In ‘Secret Wars’ (2016) #9, Miles Morales has a flashback to that moment. In the white room, Molecule Man thanks him for the burger. It is implied that Molecule Man saved Miles Morales and his family in the new mainstream Marvel universe. In the present, the two Spider-Men are on a rooftop and after Peter checks if Miles has done his homework, the two Spider-Men swing into adventure to go beat up on bad guys.

VENOM WARNS THE MAKER SEEKS TO RE-CREATE THE ULTIMATE UNIVERSE

In ‘Venom’ (2021) #200, the Ultimate universe resurfaces. Now, Eddie Brock has become the new King in Black and is testing his super powers. After testing his omniscience, he notes the only one escaping his power is the Maker, Reed Richards’ evil counterpart from the Ultimate universe. Having obtained an artificial symbiote from the Ultimate universe, the Maker used Venom‘s symbiote to augment and heal his psyche.

Able to travel between dimensions, the Maker returned to the Ultimate universe, which was destroyed. Then, Eddie uses his super powers to meet simultaneously the Avengers, Quiet Council of Krakoa, the Guardians of the Galaxy, Silver Surfer and other groups to warn them tat the Maker will likely return to conquer Earth-616. In fact, this task has been commissioned him by the Interdimensional Council of Reeds. In all likelihood, it is possible the Ultimate universe was rebooted after “Secret Wars.”

Super Power Explained: How Smart Is Iron Man?

SUPER POWER

In 'Invincible Iron Man' (2010) #25, Tony Stark explains to Mister Fantastic about the Bleeding Edge Armor.
In ‘Invincible Iron Man’ (2010) #25, Tony Stark explains to Mister Fantastic about the Bleeding Edge Armor. AP Photo/Marvel Comics.

IN SUPER POWER EXPLAINED

IRON MAN INVENTED THE BLEEDING EDGE ARMOR

Iron Man is one of the smartest beings in the Marvel Universe. He regularly comes up with advanced technology, battle plans, scientific discoveries and yes… Iron Man Hulkbuster Armors. In order to estimate how intelligent Iron Man may be, let’s look at an Iron Man Armor upgrade: The Bleeding Edge Armor.

Read on!

Deemed as “bleeding edge,” this armor was created as Tony Stark essentially reinvented himself and the armor. Being called an upgrade to Extremis by Mr. Fantastic, Tony Stark corrected this comment by saying, “Nah – this is what comes next.” It was the first armor powered entirely by repulsor technology via Stark’s new device, the R.T. node.

[…]

This entire armor is kept inside Tony’s body until mentally commanded, at which point it manifests itself as the Iron Man Armor. The armor is made up of Nano-Machines that can now be commanded to turn into any type of structure upon Stark’s skin. For example, the nano-machines can turn into clothes, other armors, or even different beings completely, by having the nano-machines change their properties into whatever Stark wants them to be. It can also dissociate to transform into the Iron Man armor whenever Stark wishes. The armor and Stark’s own transhuman body are powered by the high-yield R.T. node mounted in his chest. The high output of the node has greatly augmented Stark’s intelligence and provided him with superhuman-level multitasking and learning capabilities.

“Iron Man Armor Model 37, Marvel Database

WHAT IS THE R.T. NODE?

The R.T. node is Iron Man’s discovery of fusion power, which is the process that powers the sun. In effect, Iron Man called the Bleeding Edge Armor a “man-made star.”1

Read on!

The Repulsor Tech node, as called on Earth-616, is a type of fusion power which derived from the Repulsor Technology of the Iron Man suit created by Tony Stark. It can be used as a source for clean energy as well as a powerful bomb, further modifications made along Rand Industries discarding the second possible application.

Arc Reactor, Marvel Database

Tony Stark discovered a source of clean energy as well as the potential to make powerful thermonuclear bombs.

HOW STRONG IS THE BLEEDING EDGE ARMOR?

IN ‘AVX:VS’ #1, IRON MAN IN BLEEDING EDGE ARMOR GOES TOE TO TOE WITH MAGNETO WHO WAS SIPHONING THE MAGNETIC ENERGY OF NEARBY PLANETS

In 'AvX: Vs' #1, Bleeding Edge Armor Iron Man goes toe to toe with Magneto.
In ‘AvX: Vs’ #1, Bleeding Edge Armor Iron Man goes toe to toe with Magneto. AP Photo/Marvel Comics.

The Bleeding Edge Iron Man Armor is able to go toe to toe with an Omega Level mutant. Since Magneto was siphoning the magnetic energy of nearby planets, the Bleeding Edge Iron Man Armor is able to withstand planetary to solar level power. This means it is at least Planetary in Power Level.

HOW SMART IS IRON MAN?

Iron Man’s IQ has been rated as super-genius, with the likes of beings like Thanos. Ben Sherlock from CBR.com writes:

Lex Luthor’s IQ is estimated to be 225, which is very impressive. Batman’s is 192, while Albert Einstein’s is thought to be between 160 and 180. So, Batman has a higher IQ than Albert Einstein, but Lex Luthor has a higher IQ than Batman. However, compare Lex’s to Tony Stark’s, which is 270, and it doesn’t seem so impressive. Tony’s IQ of 270 is extremely high. It makes him certifiably a “super genius” and puts him in the smartest 0.1% of the world’s population. 225 is still an incredible IQ score, but it’s not in the top 0.1% of the world.

“9 Questions About Lex Luthor, Answered,” CBR.com

Iron Man mastered the fusion process that powers the solar nuclear reactor. This is revolutionary in the sense that it promises to create clean energy that can power human industry. Iron Man built a Bleeding Edge Iron Man and is capable of at least creating a statistical model of the lifetime of a star from its beginning stages to supernova. Furthermore, Iron Man is able to apply theory to physics and engineering.

The Bleeding Edge Iron Man Armor achieves two things: fusion power and nano-technology. Because Iron Man realized these feats of engineering, his creative intelligence is at least intelligent enough to process all the information on the Internet since this is the technology that connects the entirety of Marvel Earth.

In fact, in real-world terms, the orbiting space telescope GALEX that detects stellar and space objects produces about petabytes of data in its catalogs. This means Iron Man is able to process at least petabytes of data in order to create the Bleeding Edge Iron Man Armor.

THE FIGHT

World Breaker Hulk has given Reed Richards the ultimatum to kill Tony Stark. However, Reed has rejected it. As the situation becomes dire, Reed asks Hulk to surrender. At that moment, Sentry explodes in.

The battle to decide who is the cosmic god!

DAMAGE SCALE

The fight starts out with Sentry using energy manipulation to dive bomb World Breaker Hulk through Madison Square Garden.

SENTRY ENERGY MANIPULATION ATTACK (x3): 18 DAMAGE PTS.

On the following page, Sentry hits World Breaker Hulk with an energy manipulation punch that does serious damage. Hulk is sent through buildings three times before being momentarily halted.

Then, World Breaker Hulk gets up and deals the Sentry a punch that creates an explosion.

SENTRY ENERGY MANIPULATION ATTACK + CONCUSSION ATTACK (x3) = 6 DAMAGE PTS + 9 DAMAGE PTS = 15 PTS.
HULK EXPLOSION ATTACK = 5 DAMAGE PTS.

The fight goes into high gear as World Breaker Hulk deals Sentry three Planet-Busting punches to the face.

HULK PLANET-BUSTING ATTACK (x3) = 27 DAMAGE PTS.

The battle is not over.
