WHY BEYONDER IS ON THE BEST SELLERS LIST

Secret Wars II (1985) #6. DC Comics.

THE CREATIVE TEAM

Namely, the creative team on the story arc is legendary. In a few words, award-winning writer Jim Shooter and the incredible artist Al Migrom collaborate on the series.

For his part, the writer is known for the successful runs on Spider-Man, Captain America, Iron Man and Thor. In fact, despite his success, Shooter went through multiple controversies over changes to established characters.

Nonetheless, when both superstars collaborate on this work, you expect a legendary take on classic superheroes. In fact, the creative team shook the Marvel universe!

A CONTINUATION OF THE FIRST SECRET WARS

When Shooter created Secret Wars II, it was promoted with the tagline “Who is the Beyonder?” Indeed, the omnipotent entity comes to Earth in search of enlightenment and paradise.

Certainly, the crossover event answers some questions about the mysterious entity. Though classic heroes such as Cloak and Dagger make their appearance, the comic makes it clear that it is a pastiche though the ending is tragic.

Now, the heroes make one final push to end the threat of Beyonder and hi cosmic manipulations. Witness one of the most iconic ends in Marvel history to the God of the Marvel multiverse.

AN EVENT WITH COSMIC DEATHS

Importantly, Secret Wars II is notable for the deaths of cosmic entities, including Beyonder. In Secret Wars II (1985) #6, Beyonder actually uses half of his power in order to kill Death.

In Secret Wars II (1986) #9, Beyonder decides to become a human person and shed his godhood. When the heroes learn of his potential scheme, they assemble at the Rocky Mountains. There, they find the Beyonder’s apparatus.

However, a battle follows. As Beyonder recreates himself into a mortal baby, the heroes fight back. But they are unable to prevent the transformation. When they see a baby has emerged, the heroes mull their decision.

Indeed, buy this comic to witness Molecule Man killing the baby Beyonder who dies in the end. In the end, the comic concluded with the Beyonder, happy in Beyond-Realm.

SALES, SALES, SALES

Really, Secret Wars #7 did not boost sales for the series but it did perform outstandingly. In fact, according to Comichron, it was the best-selling comic for September 1985 with 49,100 Diamond unit sales.

However, in the year 1985, six out of the 12 best-seller comics were from the event. Though its yearly performance benefited from a lack of sales tracking. Let’s compare to the other comics in 1985.
