THE BEST INVENTORS IN ANIME
For our very first Anime/Manga article, we compared Goku and One-Punch Man. For dedicated fans, who have been following the media, manga and anime produce some of the most gravity-defying and exhilarating fights in all fandom.
In today’s article, we compare two inventors that are the cream of the crop in terms of fighting spirit, determination, strength and yes… inventions!
Though both universes have never met, what would happen in a battle between the greatest inventor in Dragon Ball, Future Bulma and the founder of the Kingdom of Science, Senku Ichigami?
Really, both are A-list heroes and C-list heroines in their respective universes. Namely, the iconic Senku expanded the Stone Sanctuary in Season 4 (2025) anime. For her part, Future Bulma made an appearance in Dragon Ball Super to save Gohan.
Though both heroes have shown creative inventions, let’s compare their inventions in terms of civilization. Hence, we compare Senku with Revival Fluid vs Future Bulma with Time Machine.
KI AND POWER LEVELS
Generally, the concept of power levels understood scientifically or physically is not useful in anime and manga. In fact, this is due to the concept of ki.
In anime and manga, characters’ strengths are not dependent on how much physical strength they can exert, or how much they can lift. Instead, they depend on their ability to use their natural life force for devastating attacks, super speed or abilities such as flying.
In many respects, these are an application of martial arts and Chinese philosophies to the arts of fighting and war. For these reasons, we compare these warriors in terms of formidability.
FORMIDABILITY
Generally, formidability is the ability to compete, match and defeat a foe despite overwhelming odds. Usually, formidability indicates a warrior’s ability to defeat a stronger, more powerful and more resourceful enemy.
For this reason, it is almost interchangeable with the Fighting Level. For example, this explains why Batman is able to defeat Killer Croc or Bane who are in fact stronger or more powerful.
Using tactics, training, technology, resources and intel, Batman is usually able to take on more powerful opponents.
Before we rank our two heroes, let’s list some rules.
- First, the hero should be able to consistently defeat opponents above their strength class or power level.
- In terms of power level or fighting skills, they should have few or no weaknesses.
- Consistently, they should face quality opponents that are at least able to destroy a city.
- Finally, they should have fewer limitations in power, strength, ability or intelligence.

1. STRENGTH CLASS
Generally, Senku is the greatest scientist in Dr. Stone. On many occasions, he has overcome impossible odds in order to save humanity and establish the Kingdom of Science.
At the same time, his greatest strength is his inventive mind and his belief in science. In fact, his mind can be measured directly in terms of seconds. Certainly, he counted approximately 4000 years during the time he was petrified in seconds.

On the other hand, Bulma rates as more experienced and older. In most of her fights, Future Bulma leads Trunks against threats to the planet. In fact, adult Gohan was her protector through countless battles.
And her Time Machine during the Cell Saga makes an impact on the future of Dragon Ball Z. In fact, learning from Goku helps Trunks create a future in the Dragon Ball universe where Goku is alive.
And when Trunks learns to master the super saiyan transformation, it is the Androids in his timeline that are affected. With a travel to years in the past, the time travel machine is definitely at least Infinite-Level in Kinetic Energy.

2. WEAKNESSES
For the most part, Senku’s main weakness has been his inexperience and his lack of physical strength. Indeed, Senku makes up for his weaknesses with strategy and scientific expertise.
Since, in order to defeat his opponents Senku relies on scientific expertise, he neglects to develop his physical strength or overestimates his strength. Really, Senku also needs his physical strength in order to conquer Latin America.
Generally, Bulma’s main weakness is her overreliance on Saiyans for protection. Though Future Bulma despite her age stays in better physical condition and appears fit.
With more resources, and better training from Gohan, Bulma is able to hold her own against stronger opponents and even with the use of technology.
Overall, Bulma seems to overcome Senku in terms of Weaknesses though the Dr. Stone has less Advanced Weaponry with fewer resources.

3. QUALITY OPPONENTS
Perhaps, the most clear area to consider. Senku’s most dangerous foes tend to be other humans like Tsukasa or political leaders like Ibara and his army. At the same time, Senku has powerful warriors on his team such as Kohaku.
Though their physical strength is often around Peak Human, their Power Level with technology and pokemon or ki tends to be around Metahuman Level. In terms of Power Level, Senku’s early strongest opponents are around Peak Human or Hi-Metahuman like Tsukasa.
In comparison, Bulma faces far more powerful foes such as androids, robots and gods. On multiple occasions, the Androids invade her timeline, or an alternate Goku attempts to erase the timeline.
And Future Bulma, Trunks face more life-and-death and destruction. With powerful attacks, they are in danger of being killed and when Trunks saves their timeline, Bulma also dies. In terms of Quality Opponents, the Androids figure as Hi-Tech Genius.
Overall, Senku and Bulma both face Planetary threats with petrification and androids. Though Bulma’s foes are far stronger.

4. LIMITATIONS
Really, both heroes are astoundingly powerful and intelligent. Though Senku seems to have unlimited potential for evolution, Bulma has shown better experience annd performance against stronger foes.
Though, both inventors win in youth for Senku annd experience for Bulma, Senku shows greater promise for science and civilization and the fans decide which style they prefer.

Though Senku has unlimited potential with youth and dedication, Future Bulma is a proven scientist and a better warrior that fights stronger foes. In the end, to evaluate the inventors, we think Future Bulma has more experience, strength and encyclopedic knowledge to restore civilization.
