In our article, we list 4 important Batman v. Superman stills inspired from DC comics. Today, we celebrate the anniversary of Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice released on March 25th 2016.
Below, you can see our Top 4 stills from the movie.
4. KRYPTONITE GRENADE/ARROW
In his interview with BlackTree TV in 2016, Zack Snyder revealed that Batman v. Superman is inspired from the legendary The Dark Knight Returns (1986) graphic novel by revolutionary author and artist Frank Miller. In the final issue of the comic,Superman takes on Batman.
Unlike the comic, Batman fires a Kryptonite gas grenade at Superman with a Kryptonite Grenade Launcher whereas Green Arrow fires a Kryptonite arrow in the source material.
Though The Dark Knight Returns takes place on Earth-31, Zack Snyder also heavily influences from the New 52. In fact, even Superman’s powers may reveal a solar dependency weakness portrayed in the DC reboot. Similarly, the way the nuke affected Superman’s powers during the Superman vs Doomsday battle showed the Man of Steel shriveling up in a comatose state like in the New 52.
For her part, Wonder Woman makes a cameo appearance in the movie. Reminiscent to her New 52 battle against the Kryptonian creature in the valuableSuperman Doomed (2014) #1, Wonder Woman wounds Doomsday. Though the New 52 version was a planetary plague, the amputation causes city block-wide bioelectrical emission threatening even the Amazon.
2. FACE-OFF
Like the source material, Batman v. Superman is largely political intrigue. In the graphic novel, Batman has come out of retirement to bring justice to Gotham. However, the government sends Superman to bring him in due to his brand of justice.
In the movie, Batman (and Lex Luthor) seem to launch a legal argument against Superman and the Kryptonian invasion in Man of Steel (2013). For Batman, the only penalty for Superman’s presence on Earth is death.
1. SUPERMAN PULLING A SHIP/PLANETS
Cinematically, Zack Snyder is a visual storyteller who excels at slow-motion cinema. In fact, his comic book movies are inspired with panels from the source material.
Importantly, the movie features Superman performing heroics and feats worldwide. In a Silver Age nod, Superman pulls a capsized ship in the Arctic. Similarly, Superboy pulled planets on a chain in the rare Superboy (1967) #140.
In 1986, DC Comics published History of the DC Universe. Importantly, the comic changed continuity and introduced a single, unified DC Universe with a shared history. In addition, the DC multiverse was erased from continuity with the five remaining Earths after Crisis On Infinite Earths merging into New Earth. In the Pre-Crisis universe, DC Comics introduced Darkseid as a Superman villain.
This March, we remember the death of Darkseid in the iconic eventFinal Crisis #7. Today, we celebrateFinal Crisis and major character deaths.
THE FLASHES AND BLACK RACER KILL DARKSEID
Perhaps, Final Crisis (2009) #7, is the most cryptic of the Morrison saga. Though the Supermen of the Multiverse save the DC multiverse, there are some loose ends that need resolution. Moreover, the comic is set in the Post-Crisis continuity though it anticipates the New 52. Importantly, the comic features the infamous death of Darkseid killed by Barry Allen, Wally West, the Omega Effect and the Black Racer. And after Boss Dark Side is shot by Batman’s radion bullet. Certainly, that is the reason how according to Comichron the comic performed with 109,400 unit sales in the year 2009.
DARKSEID KILLS BATMAN WITH THE OMEGA EFFECT
Certainly, the major death in the entire series. With a move that no one sees coming, DC Comics actually kills Batman. After Dick Grayson survived Infinite Crisis, it was time for a Bat-family member to die. Perhaps, the death is not a major news sensation though a very significant event in comicdom. In Final Crisis (2009) #6, the DC multiverse is at stake.

THE DEATH OF ORION IS FINAL CRISIS‘ MURDER MYSTERY
Importantly, Final Crisis is a murder mystery. Incredibly, Morrison weaves a threaded tapestry of gods, heroes and villains where the murder of Orion is the impetus for the conflict. Certainly, Final Crisis (2008) #1 is at number 9 on 2008 comic book sales to comic shops. In addition, in a death that angered fans, the Martian Manhunter also dies tragically.
In Final Crisis (2009) #7, another major series of deaths occurs. With the passing of the multiverse, the Monitors are erased from existence. Perhaps, a warning that DC intended for Final Crisis to end the idea of a multiverse. SEE my ebookfor more information.
In the Pre-Crisis universe, DC Comics introduced Hal Jordan as opposed to Alan Scott.
This January, the Green Lantern series hit a 100th-issue milestone with a double-sized comic featuring Hal Jordan published in 1978. Today, we celebrateGreen Lantern.
GREEN LANTERN REACHES A MILESTONE
In Green Lantern (1978) #100, Green Lantern hits a milestone issue. In a double-sized comic by Dennis O’Neil and Alex Saviuk, Green Lantern has to stop a foreign terrorist named Master Tek. Moreover, the comic is set in the Pre-Crisis continuity on Earth-One. Also, the comic features the first appearance of Air Wave, Hal’s cousin. Importantly, the hero is one of the few characters that also share the name Hal Jordan like Green Lantern.
IN THE SECOND STORY, OLIVER QUEEN AGREES TO RUN FOR MAYOR
In“Beware the Blazing Inferno,” the second story, Oliver Queen agrees to run for mayor. In the issue, Green Arrow, Black Canary and Speedy (Roy Harper) stop the Blazing Infernos street gang in the latest Star City bombings. After, Mayor Jack Mayor deduces that Oliver Queen is Green Arrow and convinces him to run for mayor.

INZA NELSON TELLS THE ORIGIN OF DOCTOR FATE
InDC Special Series (1978) #10, Paul Levitz and Joe Staton revel the origin of superheroes. In three separate stories, we learn the origin stories of Doctor Fate, Lightray and Black Canary. Importantly, Fate’s wife, Inza Nelson reflects on her husband’s encounter with the Lord of Order, Nabu, on Earth-Two when he was 12 years old. In fact, Kent Nelson was destined to become Doctor Fate as Nabu took him under his apprenticeship.
THE GOLDEN GLIDER LEARNS THE FLASH’S SECRET IDENTITY
In The Flash (1978) #257, Cary Bates and Irv Novick produced a thrilling Flash story set on Earth-One. In The Flash (1977) #250, the Golden Glider makes her first appearance. In issue #257, she learns the Flash is Barry Allen and attacks the West family.

DC VS MARVEL
IN TEAM-UPS AND CROSSOVERS
“A CONTEST OF CHAMPIONS”
JLA/Avengers. DC Comics.
In honor of George Perez, let’s look at a classic DC/Marvel crossover.
Furthermore, our top-rated Formidability Ranking uses four central Fighting Skills to settle the debate.
In the classic inter-company crossover JLA/Avengers (2004), both super-teams assemble to take on a threat that threatens the Omniverse. Particularly, the series was so successful that the JLA: Syndicate Rules established the crossover to be canon to the New Earth continuity.
In contests of champions, the Grandmaster and Metron task both teams with the responsibility to assemble six items of power from each universe.
Namely, from the DC Universe: Green Lantern’s Power Battery, the Book of Eternity, the Orb of Ra, the items of the Demons Three, the Spear of Destiny and Psycho Pirate’s Medusa Mask.
From the Marvel Universe: the Ultimate Nullifier, the Evil Eye of Avalon, the Infinity Gems, the Cosmic Cube, the Casket of Ancient Winters and the Wand of Watoomb.
JLA/AVENGERS #2
In JLA/Avengers #2, the Leaguers are leading 6-5. In a titanic clash, the JLA and the Avengers face off for the Cosmic Cube. On Savage Land, a knock-out drag-out slugfest follows. Let’s rank the main contestants in the battle in terms of the Power Hierarchy.
Generally, our formidability takes into account a character’s quality of opponents. Using this hierarchy, we can formulate a Power Hierarchy. Namely, it is the following:
Peak Human, Assassin, Metahuman, Criminal Mastermind/Team-Wrecker, Warrior, Hi-Tech Genius/Enhanced, Political Leader, Demon or Monster/Supernatural Being, Champion, Cosmic Being, Skyfather, God or Abstract.
Before we rank the JLA and Avengers, let’s list some rules.
First, only beings below God or Abstract are included. God or Abstract include Galactus, Eternity, Living Tribunal, Beyonder, One-Above-All.
Since we focus on battles, we will go by power levels.
We are rating power levels only in issue #2.
Since only the major battles are included, not all members of both teams are included.
Potentially, Superman could solo the Avengers team.
Indeed, it takes Hercules, Iron Man, She-Hulk, Wonder Man and Vision to put down the Man of Steel at the end of the fight.
THOR
Power Hierarchy: Champion 75%
THOR IS A CHAMPION
Really, Thor faces one of his toughest battles. First, he wades through a powerful blast of heat vision.

And had he succeeded, the JLA woud have had a clean victory.
CAPTAIN MARVEL
Power Hierarchy: Champion 75%
To begin, Monica Rambeau has the power of converting her body into any energy in the electromagnetic spectrum.
Really, she is a Champion on the Avengers team and can take on any one.

Nonetheless, she is among the mightiest on the Avengers team.

VERDICT:
With help, the JLA won a virtual victory and the Avengers actually tied the score. Really, lacking Flash’s Speed Force and the Avengers at full strength, the JLA are stacked with three Cosmic Beings and two Champions. Generally, the underdog Avengers even things with better teamwork and preparation. JLA wins a difficult fight.

From 2013 to 2016, Jeff Lemire and Andrea Sorrentino had some of the best runs on Green Arrow in recent memory. Namely, the story arc is simply titled Green Arrow that acts as a soft reboot. Critically, it is one of the best runs of the New 52.
In a sense, it is similar to a Batman: Year One story. In fact, it is a back-to-basics run about Green Arrow‘s origin story including the loss of his fortune and his time stranded on Starfish Island. Thematically, it is about loss, responsibility and overcoming extreme pain.
Really, critics and die-hard fans of Green Arrow have raved about this run. At Comic Book Movie, Bradley M. Walker Sr. lauds the series as a successful jumping on point for new and old fans alike.
Furthermore, the work by the tandem Lemire-Sorrentino is revolutionary. In fact, Sorrentino’s artistic experiment lends itself well to a digital format.
Certainly, the Green Arrow vs Count Vertigo battle is a highlight of the run. Without a doubt, it reveals the brutality and the savagery of Oliver’s training and skills. Definitely, it is not for the faint of heart.
Definitely, this story is one of the best Green Arrow stories ever told. Successfully, the comic gains new fans onboard with its back-to-basics approach and its origin story. In fact, it is available on Amazon in the link below.

Wonder Woman may become a classic collection in the future. Namely, it is the fourth volume in the Wonder Woman series that lasted the entirety of the New 52. And that is saying the work is top-notch.
At the helm, is a creative team that had a long-lasting impact on the character and the DC Universe.
As matter of fact, the changes that Azzarello and his team brought to the series impacted Wonder Woman well into Rebirth. It may be said that when Wonder Woman became the God of War, she slowly became the central character in the DC Universe.
For new readers, Wonder Woman presents a stark contrast in its colorful cast of characters. Though the confrontation between the heroine and First Born is complex, it is amplified by caricature.
In effect, both characters by their physical appearance and their morality stand diametrically opposed. It is this caricature that is evident in the Olympians who have abandoned mythological attire for a more modern outlook.
This colorful cast of characters with its machinations seems to weave a tapestry that ultimately seeks power and domination.
When Wonder Woman has to protect a new life, a new dimension of maternity is added to her personality. In the end, she saves the day by making a difficult choice in battle. And the new love interest with Orion is an added breath of fresh air.
Really, this may be some of the best Wonder Woman writing in years.
Definitely, this volume is essential Wonder Woman and the caricatures flow perfectly on the Kindle format.

At DC Comics, Batman is the established most popular character. Really, Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo’s run is the stuff of legend! As matter of fact, Batman takes his war on crime against the Court of Owls, an organization that controls all of Gotham City.
Without a doubt, this is the decisive Batman run of the New 52. What makes it stand out is the organization’s mythical status and its apparent connection to the Wayne family. In fact, there is an ominous prophecy of Bruce Wayne’s timely death after a murder.
Importantly, a Publisher’s Weekly review, comments Capullo’s art is pulp fiction. Correctly, the run features some of the best noir and pulp art from the New 52. In fact, Capullo excels at exaggeration and grotesqueness.
Without a doubt, the art enhances the surrealism of the different story arcs. Perfectly, the complexity of the story and the surrealist art have great visual effects on Kindle & Comixology.
To sum, the Batman series was elevated to a higher note in the New 52. In many respects, it is the Detective element that has been highlighted more even during DC Universe Rebirth. As we have put it, Batman is either a #Batgod or a #Batninja. For your part, take your pick.
Definitely, this graphic novel belongs in your digital collection. Certainly, this is one of the most serious treatments of the New 52.

Recently, a serial killer called “The Seattle Slasher” has surfaced. Worryingly, Ollie is concerned he may not always be Green Arrow. For this reason, he asks Dinah to marry him. Decisively, the heroine rejects his proposal as she is worried about bringing into their crime-fighting lives and is happily satisfied with their relationship.
DINAH LOSES HER SONIC CRY AFTER BEING TORTURED; LATER, OLLIE IS KILLED
In Green Arrow: The Longbow Hunters (1987) #2, Black Canary is tortured. After Dinah investigates a lead on the cocaine trade, she is captured. Fortunately, Green Arrow is able to track and locate her. In a warehouse by the docks, Dinah is being tortured. With the help of the mysterious Shado, Ollie rescues Dinah.
In the following Green Arrow series, Dinah becomes a supporting character for Ollie. During the series, Dinah never uses her sonic cry as a result of the torture. During that time, she quits Justice League International. When she believes Oliver cheater on her, she break up with him. Before the couple can re-unite, Ollie is killed in Green Arrow #101 helping Superman save Metropolis.
In Justice League: Cry For Justice (2010) #6, the JL uncovers Prometheus’ plan: infiltrate and use the Watchtower’s teleportation device to teleport the heroes’ home cities across time and space.
When the JL accepts to let him go, Prometheus gives them the codes to each device in each city. However, Star City’s device was the first to activate leading to destruction in the city. After the death of Lian Harper, Speedy’s daughter, Ollie avenges him.
In Justice League: Cry For Justice (2010) #7, he locates Prometheus and strikes an arrow through his head. Later, during his trial, Dinah ends their marriage. In the end, Ollie is acquitted of murder charges.

IN REDEMPTION
#WESTANDWITHZATANNA AND VICTIMS OF RAPE
In “Identity Crisis,” the JLA is faced with an ethical question. Indeed, the rape and the murder mystery of Sue Dibny drove deep wounds within the superhero community. Without a doubt, the Elongated Man’s wife was beloved. Regularly, she visited the Justice League atop the Watchtower.
Because of Sue Dibny’s rape, the Justice League faced a daunting ethical problem. In addition, Doctor Light was a threat to the League and their loved ones. In order to stop the psychopath, it was going to require drastic measures. But, the JLA members who responded to Sue’s signal and took down Doctor Light were split.
Divided, the JLA put the mindwipe to a vote. On one side, Green Lantern, Green Arrow and Black Canary voted against the mindwipe. On the other side, Zatanna, Hawkman and Atom voted for the mindwipe. Decisively, Flash (Barry Allen) broke the tie in favor. Without a doubt, a watershed moment in DC history that led to a breach of trust. When Zatanna lobotomized Doctor Light, Batman also arrived on the Watchtower. To prevent opposition from the Dark Knight, Zatanna also mindwiped him.
Later, during “Identity Crisis,” Batman recovered his memory of the event. Because of the breach of trust, this led to Batman creating Brother Eye to spy on the metahuman population. As Superboy-Prime argued, the heroes stopped behaving like heroes. The consequences were the Omac Project and the “Infinite Crisis.” In retaliation for Superman’s mind-control, Wonder Woman killed Maxwell Lord in cold blood.

AGAINST ZATANNA: THE JLA SHOULD HAVE INCAPACITATED DOCTOR LIGHT’S POWERS
Given its intrusive nature, mindwipe is highly traumatic. Definitely, the mindwiped may end up worse off morally and personality-wise. In Batman’s case, this may explain the dark path he set upon after recovering his memory of the incident. For Doctor Light, it set him on a path to revenge. To this end, to destroy the JLA and the Teen Titans.
Later, Doctor Light accepted membership into the Secret Society of Supervillains. Certainly, it was a darker DC Universe. For its part, the JLA should have followed Green Lantern’s advice. Instead, Zatanna should have incapacitated Doctor Light’s use of his super powers. Also, to protect Sue, Doctor Light should have been sent under solitary confinement at a maximum security prison.
