DC DAY
IN VISUAL ARTS
In 2020, Warner Bros. Pictures released Wonder Woman 1984. Despite poor reviews and a poor box office performance, the movie showed Diana Prince don her Gold Armor for the first time on the big screen. In 1986, DC Comics published History of the DC Universe. Importantly, the comic changed continuity and introduced a single, unified DC Universe with a shared history. In addition, the DC multiverse was erased from continuity with the five remaining Earths after Crisis On Infinite Earths merging into New Earth. In an Elseworlds story, DC Comics introduced the Golden Armor in Kingdom Come (1996) #3.
This July, Kingdom Come #3 hits its 27th anniversary and we list the appearances of the Gold Armor in Elseworlds and since Post-Crisis continuity. This month, we celebrate Kingdom Come.
IN KINGDOM COME, WONDER WOMAN FIGHTS BATMAN
In 1996, writer Mark Waid and artist Alex Ross collaborated on one of the greatest DC comics of all-time. In a four-issue limited series under DC’s Elseworlds Imprint, the legendary team introduced Kingdom Come with an alternate future of the DC Universe where classic heroes have to face a younger and more violent hero generation. Moreover, the comic is set on Earth-22. Importantly, Kingdom Come (1996) #3 showed Wonder Woman don the Gold Armor for the first time with the Justice League in order to fight Batman and his allies. Moreover, Planet Krypton makes an appearance in Kingdom Come #1 and #3 and is inspired from real-life themed restaurant Planet Hollywood. According to Comichron, Kingdom Come #3 was number 2 on the July 1996 Comic Book Sales to Comics Shops with an Order Index of 218.6.

IN TRIAL OF THE AMAZONS, WONDER WOMAN FIGHTS CHAOS
In Trial of the Amazons (2022) #2, Becky Cloonan et al conclude the storyline. In the issue, the three tribes of the Amazons are threatened by a mythological foe called Chaos through Doom’s Doorway. Importantly, the issue shows Wonder Woman donning the Gold Armor of Asteria for the first time since Infinite Frontier. Also, it features the first appearance of Yara Flor as Wonder Girl.
