IN COMIC COLLECTIONS
In 1986, DC Comics published History of the DC Universe. Importantly, the comic changed continuity and introduced a single, unified DC Universe with a shared history. In addition, the DC multiverse was erased from continuity with the five remaining Earths after Crisis On Infinite Earths merging into New Earth. In a prelude to Infinite Crisis, DC Comics published Day of Vengeance about The Spectre’s war on magic.
This month, The Power of Shazam #2 hits its 19th anniversary and we list the first appearance of Mary Batson in Post-Crisis continuity as well as other first appearances. This month, we celebrate The Power of Shazam.
IN THE POWER OF SHAZAM, MARY BATSON FIRST APPEARS
In 1995, writer Jerry Ordwar and artist Peter Krause collaborated on one of the best Captain Marvel stories. In a 47-issue series, the superstar team re-introduced Captain Marvel to the DC Universe for the second time since Crisis on Infinite Earths. Moreover, the comic is set in the mainstream universe. Importantly, The Power of Shazam #2 showed the first appearance of Mary Batson, Billy Batson’s sister. According to Comichron, The Power of Shazam #2 was number 66 on the February 1995 Comic Book Sales to Comics Shops with an 30.5 Order Index.

IN WHEN EVIL CALLS, ADIN MAKES HIS FIRST APPEARANCE
In 2011, DC Comics published the quintessential Legion of Super-Heroes: When Evil Calls storyline as the last volume in the series before the Flashpoint reboot. In Legion of Super-Heroes #12, Paul Levitz and Yildiray Cinar collaborated to create one of the most dramatic fights in Legion history between the Legion of Super-Heroes and Saturn Queen’s Legion of Super-Villains. In the issue, Adin of the Science Police makes his first appearance.
IN TRIAL OF THE AMAZONS, IRACI MAKES HER FIRST APPEARANCE
In Trial of the Amazons: Wonder Girl (2022) #2, Joëlle Jones and Adriana Melo continue the storyline. In the storyline, Yara Flor must unite the three tribes of the Amazons against a mythological foe. Importantly, the issue it features the first appearance of Iraci of the Esquecidas.
