To begin, Shazam! (2019) is inspired from Geoff Johns’ New 52 origin story collected in Shazam! Vol. 1 (2013). Importantly, the origin story was a series of back-up or main story features in the second Justice League series.
Moreover, this comic concludes Shazam’s origin story excellently and in Shazam! Vol. 1, we get to see Billy grow with his family and face his familiar rogues as Shazam such as Doctor Sivana and Black Adam in mythological threats. And the last issue shows the second battle against Black Adam in the New 52.
Really, the 34-page issue reads well on the digital format with full coloring and browsing. Definitely, you will love Shazam’s heroism and the horrifying monsters Mary Marvel and the Shazam family has to fight.
