DARKSEID AND ZEUS ARE DC’S TOP TWO SKYFATHERS

Today, we continue to celebrate Wonder Woman Day celebrated on October 21st. In 2021, Zack Snyder’s Justice League released on HBO Max with fan excitement. As a Director’s Cut faithful to Snyder’s original vision, it received favorable reviews and was awarded an Oscar in 2022.

Importantly, Wonder Woman’s Invasion of Earth featured the two gods coming two blows as the Apokoliptian army faced the army of Earth with the Amazons, Atlanteans, humans and Olympian gods. Moreover, since the DC Extended Universe is based in part on the New 52, the war repeated the rivalry from the comics.

In the comics, Darkseid has been involved with Earth and the Amazons in the Modern Age. In Wonder Woman (1995) #104, Darkseid invaded the island of Themyscira in order to discover the location of the Olympian gods and steal their power. This resulted in the death of half of the Amazons.

In the New 52, the rivalry between Darkseid and Zeus was revealed when the two Skyfathers battled after the events of Justice League: The Darkseid War (2016). In Wonder Woman (2018) #37, a young Darkseid battled Zeus in order to reach adulthood and be reborn.

Let’s look at how Darkseid and Zeus compare in energy projection across media.

FILM: DARKSEID DISINTEGRATES AN ATLANTEAN WITH HIS OMEGA BEAMS

Really, Zack Snyder’s Justice League (2021) finally brought the World’s Greatest Heroes to save the Earth from Steppenwolf’s alien invasion and Darkseid’s Unity. Importantly, it resurrected Superman who died in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) fighting Doomsday.

Perhaps, one of its least celebrated moments is the Darkseid Omega Beams scene. At the end of the movie, we have a Batman nightmare of a post-apocalyptic Earth invaded by Darkseid. In the scene, a Darkseid in Atlantis fire his Omega Beams at an Atlantean and incinerates him. Moreover, we think Darkseid’s Omega Effect is actually a power of entropy from the Source.

Considering that Atlanteans can withstand the pressures of the ocean depths, they have at least a Continent-Level of Durability. Since Darkseid atomized the Atlantean, he generated at least a Continent-Level of Energy Projection. Perhaps, Darkseid’s Energy Projection is Planetary-Level.

FILM: ZEUS PUSHED BACK DARKSEID’S ADVANCE IN THE HISTORY LESSON

Gloriously, Zack Snyder’s Justice League (2021) reveals a fan-favorite scene where Darkseid appears in action. When Diana and Bruce meet at the Batcave about the Mother Boxes, Diana tells him a History Lesson about Darkseid’s Ancient War.

Though the DCEU Darkseid is a force on the battlefield, he is even stopped by the powers of the Olympian Gods. Particularly, Ares lands him the blow that defeats the Skyfather and his army.

Moreover, a Green Lantern led the charge and was able to hurt the evil god. Considering that a human brain uses 12 Watts of Power and the GL’s beam is at least 100 m long, he produced at least 8114683197320 Joules of light energy.

Definitely, Zeus can generate at least a City-Level of Energy Projection. Since only Zeus’ lightning and Artemis’ arrows were able to stop Darkseid’s charge, Zeus’ Energy Projection is City to Mountain-Level.

COMIC: IN DARKSEID WAR, DARKSEID BATTLED ANTI-MONITOR

Importantly, in the New 52 and Rebirth, Darkseid’s energy projection has increased to Pre-Crisis levels. In Justice League: The Darkseid War (2016), he was able to battle Anti-Monitor, a being who once destroyed the infinite Earths during Crisis on Infinite Earths. Properly speaking, Darkseid’s Energy Projection is Multiversal-Level.

COMIC: ZEUS CAN CHALLENGE DARKSEID

For the most part, Zeus can challenge Darkseid in battles. Like the Olympian gods, he is powered by the Godwave which created the gods and metahumans in the Post-Crisis continuity. Properly speaking, Zeus is the strongest Olympian God who controls the lightning and elements with an Energy Projection that is Universal-Level.
