OVERPOWERED BEINGS

IN COSMIC HIERARCHY

AT BASE LEVEL, THE WIZARD IS A HOMO MAGI WITH POTENTIAL TO POSSESS THE POWER OF GODS

This month, our Hot Take is #TheWizardShazamIsaHomoMagi in the Power of Shazam. In his base form, we think he can be powered by the Powers of the Gods as a Champion and we think Superboy can match your Mystic personality. For more Hot Takes to find your hero, click on Mystic highlighted in gray.

Let’s start from the Golden Age.

During the Golden Age, Fawcett introduced the character who would change the DC status quo. In the Whiz Comics (1940) #2, legendary team Bill Parker and C.C. Beck created the Wizard. In the First Appearance, we find that the Wizard bequeaths the power of Shazam to Billy Batson to become his new Champion.

Moreover, the Golden Age popularized the DC cartoon, where we learn Shazam was once a shepherd who lived as a human 9,000 years ago. When he was chosen by six gods named Voldar, Lumiun, Arel, Ribalvei, Elbiam, and Marzosh he was empowered by them when he spoke the magical word VLAREM.

Post-Crisis, Shazam was named Jebediah of Canaan who lived 9,000 years ago as a shepherd. When his parents were killed by nomads, Jebediah formed a covenant with the six forgotten gods to become their Champion.

In The Power of Shazam (1995) #10, when he speaks the word VLAREM, the gods grant him the Strength of Voldar, the Wisdom of Lumiun, the Speed of Arel, the Power of Ribalvei, the Courage of Elbiam and the Stamina of Marzosh.

As a human with longevity granted by the gods, Jebediah showed he may be a homo magi by studying magic and growing in power. Over time, he was able to create a new power from the magical word SHAZAM and choose a successor in Black Adam, who betrayed him.

OVERPOWERED, THE WIZARD CAN EMPOWER SHAZAM WITH THE LIVING LIGHTNING

Notably, as a homo magi, the Wizard has studied the magical powers of the universe for thousands of years. In his battle over the forces of evil, he has mastered the Living Lightning. Usually, Post-Crisis the Wizard ranks Skyfather or above in the Power Hierarchy.

In War of the Gods (1991) #4, we learn that the Wizard gathered the powers of the gods for his SHAZAM magical word: the Wisdom of Solomon, the Strength of Hercules, the Stamina of Atlas, the power of Zeus, the Courage of Achilles and the Speed of Mercury.

Really, over 6000 years, Shazam showcased a Multiversal-Level of Energy Projection. In fact, he showed the powers of Magical Protection and Divine Power, as he sealed the Three Faces of Evil.

Among his super powers are: super strength, super speed, longevity, flight, nigh-omniscience, nigh-omnipresence, healing, telepathy, divine enchantment, magical energy manipulation, teleportation, immortality, clairvoyance, time travel and dimensional travel. Later, we will see why he created the Rock of Eternity.

IN POWER OF SHAZAM, #THEWIZARDISAHOMOMAGI CREATES THE ROCK OF ETERNITY

In The Power of Shazam (1995) #10, #TheWizardisAHomoMagi who creates the Rock of Eternity. 5000 years B.C., the Wizard faced the most challenging foe in the Three Faces of Evil. Moreover, the Wizard can match a Multiversal-level of power.

Certainly, the Wizard’s power increase is significant to match the power of the Multiverse since he creates the Rock of Eternity to imprison them. At the same time, we see that the Rock of Eternity is formed from a rock of Heaven and a rock of Hell.

In the current issue, the god accepts and embarks on a mission to train to have a successor and bequeath his powers. Definitely, the Wizard is at least Skyfather-Level in the Power Hierarchy.

WHY THE WIZARD IS AN OVERPOWERED BEING

THE WIZARD WATCHES THE MULTIVERSE WITH THE QUINTESSENCE

Amazingly, one of the Wizard’s less well-known feats, is his conversation as a member of the Quintessence in an alternate timeline. Notably, in the Kingdom Come mini-series, the Wizard appears with Ganthet, Highfather, Zeus and Phantom Stranger in the Quintessence.

In Kingdom Come (1996) #3, the Quintessencs appears as a multiversal Council of higher beings who watch momentous events in the DC multiverse. When Captain Marvel appears under mind control by Lex Luthor, they follow the events which may lead to Armageddon.

Then, Norman McCay and the Spectre watch as the Wizard attempts to plea for guidance to help Captain Marvel and prevent the visions of Norman McCay.

Considering the Quintessence exists outside the DC multiverse and watches over its events past, present and future,  we can state that Wizard Shazam has Nigh Omniscience-Level of Intelligence.
