SAM WILSON AND NICK FURY ARE MARVEL’S HIT SPIES

Today, we reveal a less-celebrated team-up in Marveldom. This Black History Month, we celebrate the Captain America: Brave New World movie and its popular characters. At Marvel Comics, Sam Wilson and Nick Fury are the hit spies.

In his fictional history, Sam Wilson is a hero in Harlem who begins community organizing after the death of his minister father. In the Silver Age, Sam Wilson partners with Captain America in the Caribbean Islands to stop Red Skull and becomes Falcon. In Harlem, Sam begins his crimefighting career.

Similarly, Nick Fury is the leader of the S.H.I.E.L.D. organization. As its top spy, he leads its mission to protect Earth and America from Earth and alien threats.

And their relationship is well known, Nick Fury and Sam Wilson have a mentorship relationship. In Captain America (1977) #217, Falcon joins S.H.I.E.L.D. as Super-Agent on the recommendation of Captain America.

In Avengers (1978) #181, occurs the joining of Falcon into the Avengers on government orders for racial equality. For the most part, the Ultimate Nick Fury is similar to the Marvel Cinematic Universe counterpart.

Let’s look at how Sam Wilson and Nick Fury compare in intelligence.

TV: SAM WILSON OUTSMARTS KANG THE CONQUEROR

In 2013, Marvel Animation released Avengers Assemble on Disney XD. Certainly, a pop-culture phenomenon that with Marvel’s The Avengers expanded the Marvel Universe for a new generation.

Moreover, the series is notable for the animated S.H.I.E.L.D. In the show, Falcon is a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent in training under Fury’s mentorship. Later, he joins the Avengers and goes into space missions.

Importantly, it features one of the best Falcon moments as he ends up in the future during Kang’s reign in the future. Incredibly, Falcon learns future tech and causes Kang’s armor to malfunction with a device.

With infinite energy projection that time travel produces, Sam Wilson performed a Mathematical Computation-Level of Intelligence. Certainly, this is more intelligence than Nick Fury’s Energy Projection.

TV: FURY SUCCESSFULLY LEADS A TEAM AGAINST ZODIAC

In 2013, Marvel Animation released Avengers Assemble on Disney XD. Certainly, a pop-culture phenomenon expanded the Marvel Extended Universe and its team dynamics.

Moreover, the show is notable for a regular cast of characters under Fury’s mentorship such as Spider-Man, members of the Defenders, X-Men, the Avengers.

Importantly, it features one of the concluding moments of the series as Fury matures in his relationship with Spider-Man. Successfully, he leads the hero, Power Man and Agent Coulson in a mission against Zodiac. In addition, he helps the web slinger deal with chemistry with other teammates.

With 3 or more Leader to Genius-Level mentees under his leadership for the mission, Nick Fury generates a Genius-Level of Intelligence.

FILM: IN BRAVE NEW WORLD, SAM DEDUCES POTUS IS RED HULK

In 2025, Marvel Studios released Captain America: Brave New World. Certainly, a controversial movie that reduced the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s brand but expanded its fanbase with Black History Month.

Moreover, the film is notable for the live-action first appearance of Red Hulk. In an all-out fight, Captain America fights Red Hulk at the White House. In the fight, Sam deduces the identity of Red Hulk as POTUS.

Importantly, it features one of the best moments as he stands-up to the monster and protects the bystanders. Incredibly, Wilson unravels the link to the RedSterns.

With a global-level of investigation and spying, Captain America performed a Leader-Level of Intelligence. Certainly, this is less powerful than Fury’s Intelligence.

FILM: NICK FURY CAN IDENTIFY A SKRULL

Really, Captain Marvel may be among the best scifi movies of the MCU. And the movie had great reviews, with a Hollywood plot faithful to the source material.

Perhaps, one of its least celebrated moments is the relationship between Captain Marvel and Fury in their hunt for Skrull spies. When a S.H.I.E.L.D. fails a security detail, Fury suspects he is a Skrull agent.

Importantly, Skrulls are difficult to identify since they can shapeshift and assume any identity they will. In addition, they have powers such as super-strength and durability to injury.

Considering Colonel Fury has contingency plans against a Skrull invasion and deals with star system races in treaties, Fury’s feat is towards Inventor-Level in Intelligence.

COMIC: SAM WILSON BECOMES CAPTAIN AMERICA

For the most part, Sam Wilson has gone through different incarnations over the comic book ages. During the Modern Age, Falcon has been in top form. Though his intelligence regularly fluctuates, the Modern version seems to have political intelligence with more than Genius-Level in Intelligence and we rated him with Genius-Level+ Intelligence with his inventions. Properly speaking, Captain America is a symbol of freedom for Marvel Earth.

COMIC: ULTIMATE FURY IS A SUPER-SOLDIER

For the most part, Fury has access to more resources and with better leadership and experience than Falcon. With S.H.I.E.L.D., he leads teams into battle and operates hi-tech. Properly, his Intelligence-Level is Genius.
