In Iron Man (2010), Robert Downey Jr. reprises her role as Iron Man along Gwyneth Paltrow (Pepper Potts) to take on a new villain named Whiplash by Mickey Rourke. According to The Independent Critic, the film compares to a Michael Bay extravaganza.

Importantly, the original version of Whiplash made its first appearance in the Silver Age. This October 3rd, in Marvel history, we celebrate the first appearance of Whiplash in Tales of Suspense #97 and list important first appearances this month.

WHIPLASH AND BIG M FIRST APPEAR

In Tales of Suspense (1967) #97, writer Stan Lee and artist Gene Colan collaborate on the first volume. In a science-fiction story set on Earth-616, Iron Man must overcome betrayal by his cousin Morgan Stark. And Whiplash and Big M debut as leaders of the Maggia. According to Comichron, Statements of Ownership published 1967 sales.

MOONDRAGON MAKES HER FIRST APPEARANCE

In the Book of the Month contender Iron Man (1972) #54, Moondragon makes his first appearance. In a classic issue by Bill Everett and George Tuska, Madame MacEvil takes control of Iron Man’s armor and forces him to fight Namor. Later, in Daredevil (1973) #105, the reveal of her Moondragon name and is Drax the Destroyer’s daughter. Moreover, the comic format is also valuable for the Gil Kane cover sub-titled “A CLASH OF TITANS!”

THE FIRST APPEARANCE AND DEATH OF BARDAK THE APE

Perhaps, one of the most popular Marvel series, Marvel Comics debuted in 1939. In fact, it is set on Earth-616, and introduced early versions of Human Torch, Namor and Ka-Zar. Renamed with Marvel Mystery Comics (1939) #2, it would help Timely Comics become Marvel Entertainment with multiple stories. Today marks the first appearance and death of Bardak the Ape in the Ka-Zar story.
