AT BASE LEVEL, SUPERBOY CAN OVERCOME LUTHOR’S MIND-CONTROL

This month, our Hot Take is Superboy is the  #ProtectoroftheTimestream in Foundations. In his adult form, we think he helps the Legion of Super-Heroes as an inspiration for other heroes and we think Superboy can match your Strongman personality. Let’s start from the Golden Age.

During the Golden Age, DC Comics introduced the character who would change the DC status quo. In theMore Fun Comics (1945) #101, legendary team Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster created Superboy. In the momentous origin story, we find Superboy begins his superhero career in Smallville after he saves a man at eight years old.

Importantly, Superboy debuted in his solo series with Superboy (1949) #1. In a story, Mighty Boy makes a single appearance as he competes against Superboy in a plot by thieves.

Moreover, the Golden Age popularized the DC cartoon, where Superboy’s adventures often had moral lessons for a largely Caucasian audience. At the same time, it was clear that in terms of Power Hierarchy, Superboy was a Cosmic Being who could achieve any effect and rival the likes of Luthor, Ultra-Humanite.

Post-Crisis, Superboy is Kon-El, Superman’s and Luthor’s clone from the Cadmus Project. During Reign of the Supermen, Superboy arises among the four possible Superman replacements after The Death of Superman.

OVERPOWERED, SUPERBOY CAN SAVE THE MULTIVERSE

Notably, as a Kryptonian-human hybrid clone, Superboy is possesses Kryptonian physiology that grants him vast powers to absorb yellow solar radiation with effects. Usually, Post-Crisis Kon-El ranks Champion in the Power Hierarchy.

In Infinite Crisis #6, the Boy of Steel showcased why he is destined to become Superman. In a battle against Superboy-Prime and Alexander Luthor Jr, Superboy tackled Superboy-Prime into the cosmic tuning fork on Earth-One to stop Luthor’s attempt to create Earth-Prime and destroy the DC multiverse.

Really, Superboy showcased a Multiversal-Level of Super-Strength. In fact, he showed the powers of Super-Strength and Super Speed, as he exploded the machine.

Among his super powers are: super strength, super speed, invulnerability, flight, x-ray vision, a healing factor, heat vision, freeze breath, tactile telekinesis, flight, energy manipulation, solar radiation absorption, time travel and dimensional travel. Later, we will see why he #ProtectstheTimestream.

IN FOUNDATIONS, AN ADULT SUPERBOY PROTECTS THE TIMESTREAM

In Legion (2004) #28, Superboy begins to #ProtecttheTimeStream. After leaving the Titans over the Lex Luthor mind control, an adult Superboy retires to Smallville at the Kent farm. When the Servants of Darkness attack, Superboy’s destiny becomes clear. Moreover, the adult Superboy can match Superman-level foes.

Certainly, Superboy’s power increase is significant to match the power of the Orion clone who is at least Superman-level. At the same time, we see that it is the Legion of Super-Heroes that stops the attack and recruits Superboy to #ProtecttheTimeStream in the 30th century.

In the current issue, the hero accepts and embarks on a mission to train to become Superman and use his powers. Definitely, adult Superboy is at least Universal-Level in Super-Strength.
