During the Copper Age, Marvel Comics greatly expanded Spider-Man‘s universe: a new love interest in Felicia Hardy, a new and great black costume and even, new powers. Over the years, Spider-Man’s super powers expanded. In Acts Of Vengeance: Spider-Man & The X-Men, the Enigma Force chooses Spider-Man as the new Captain Universe.
Though the story arc was temporary, it shook the status quo in an impressive way.
Post-Secret Wars, Spider-Man fought an increasing darkness from his alien symbiote. At a time when the hero had finally settled into his marriage with Mary Jane. When Peter least expected it, an accident with an extra-dimensional energy source at Empire State University gave him a serious power-up.
For a time, Peter was plagued by frequent spider-sense shocks and became Cosmic Spider-Man. Read our review to find out about this story arc.
