ON EARTH, IT IS A VILTRUMITE’S MISSION TO MATE WITH A HUMAN

In our Invincible article, we related Mark Grayson’s origin story. A half-human, half-Viltriumite hybrid, Mark is a teen superhero. When he gains super powers, he embarks on superhero missions with his father, Omni-Man. However, Mark learns that in fact, his father is not a superhero. Instead, he is a conqueror for the World Conqueror Committee.

In a titanic clash, Nolan Grayson leaves Invincible near death and departs from Earth. At the same time, Mark may have inherited his father’s biological mission: to mate with a human. In fact, Mark seems to prefer his girlfriend Cecil to a Viltrumite like Anissa, who is more war-like. Some time later, it is revealed that Viltrumites must breed with humans.

ANISSA’S ABUSE REVEALS IT MAY BE MARK’S MISSION TO CONQUER EARTH

In Invincible (2014) #110, we learn about one of the most controversial act in comics. After the Viltrumite War, Invincible destroyed the planet Viltrum. Now, the Viltrumites were refugees on Earth. Since, the female Viltrumite Anissa took an interest in Mark Grayson. In fact, she seemed to like him. However, after repeated mandates from former Emperor Thragg, she realized she needed to fulfill her biological mission to procreate with a human.

In fact, Anissa had no interest in procreating with a human. With Mark being half-human, half-Viltrumite she opted for him. Meeting him in the United States, she fought and being stronger, forced herself upon him. Despite Mark’s resistance, she warned him she would repeat the act in the future. Though Mark does not realize, Anissa’s rape may indicate it is his biological mission to conquer Earth.

ANNOUNCEMENT: RAPE IS WRONG AND CRIMINAL

Though comics are some of the most progressive media and forms of art, we question some of their moral positions. In fact, it is our position that rape no matter the circumstance is always wrong and criminal. Moreover, we object to comics portraying such violence towards the opposite sexes so cavalierly.

Also, we encourage victims of rape and domestic abuse to break their silence. Every person deserves to be loved, accepted and welcome. Finally, this right extends to underrepresented minorities and races, even the LGBTQ+. We believe it is everyone’s right to live a healthy and fulfilling life.
