Feat: Batman, ‘Batman vs The Incredible Hulk’ #1

IN POWER LEVEL

BATMAN (BRUCE WAYNE)
EARTH-ONE

In ‘Batman vs The Incredible Hulk’ (1995) #1, titled “The Monster and The Madman”, Batman performs a fighting skills feat. Hired by the Shaper of Worlds, Joker has robed one of Bruce Wayne’s labs and turned Hulk against Batman. During the battle, Batman kicks Hulk at the solar plexus, depriving him of air and making the monster susceptible to sleeping gas.

How much fighting skill does it take for Batman to kick Hulk at the solar plexus, depriving him of air?

Batman is cornered by the Hulk and has nowhere to go. In order to even the odds, he triggers sleeping gas. However, Hulk, displaying some measure of intelligence, holds his breath. Batman states that “Hulk can hold his breath from now till next Christmas.”1

We will use this statement to estimate Hulk’s vital capacity. This will help us determine the strength of Batman’s kick at Hulk’s solar plexus.

NUMBER CRUNCHING

The Hulk possesses an organ that allows him to breathe underwater. At the same time, his lung capacity allows him to hold his breath for an indefinite amount of time. Vital capacity is a measure of how much air our lungs can retain, when holding our breath. In this feat, Hulk holding his breath is actually a function of his vital capacity.

It must be noted, that though Hulk is Bruce Banner’s transformation into a monster, we can still assume that he is an oversized human to simplify our calculations. In Investigation: What Factors Affect Lung Capacity we use a graph in order to estimate lung capacity (L) from the change in diameter (cm) after exhaling into a balloon.

Below is the graph.

Batman, ‘Batman vs The Incredible Hulk’ #1

Using a program, I obtained the equation of the best-fit parabola:

Equation of parabola = 19.9124x^2 − 212.429x + 448.505.

According to Batman, Hulk can hold his breath for six months. Let’s obtain the ratio of breath holding for a human, which is between 30s and 90s.

Ratio of Breath Holding = (6 months*30 days*24 hours*3600 seconds)/(90 seconds) = 172800.

Next, we use the fact a human can retain 6 Liters of air to compute the diameter at 22.8 cm. To find Hulk’s ballon diameter, we multiply by our ratio.

Balloon Diameter = (172800*22.8) = 3939840 cm.

Now we can find Hulk’s vital capacity.

Vital Capacity = (19.9124*3939840*3939840 – 212.429*3939840 + 448.505) = 3.0908619*10^14 Liters.

The metabolism of breathing is burning about 5000 calories. We can use this to find the energy in Joules used by Hulk’s vital capacity.

Energy in Joules = (5000 calories*3.0908619*10^14 Liters*4184 J)/(1 calorie) = 6.4660831*10^21 Joules.

Let’s calculate the calories burned by Batman during a 10 minute martial arts activity.

Batman, ‘Batman vs The Incredible Hulk’ #1

If we divide the super strength of Batman’s kick by the metabolic expenditure in 10 minutes, we get the following: = (6.4660831*10^21 J*1 cal)/(166250 cal*4184 J) = 9.2958253*10^12.

FIGHTING SKILLS

In order to deprive Hulk of air, Batman had to generate a kick of 6.4660831*10^21 Joules of energy. That is a mammoth amount of energy. In comparison, the Earth receives 430*10^18 Joules/hr of energy from the sun.

Batman had to generate a Planetary Level of Super Strength in his kick. This is not humanly feasible and shows that Batman likely used martial arts and chi to kick Hulk at a pressure point, namely the solar plexus.

According to Battle Ranker: The Competition, since Batman generated a Planetary Level kick, he can defeat 500000001-10E13 men in combat. Therefore, Batman generated a Warrior Madness Level of Fighting Skills with his pressure point kick.

Super Power Explained: Is Magneto’s Mastery Of Magnetism Stellar or Solar System?

SUPER POWER

In 'X-Men' (1978) #112, Magneto defeats Phoenix and Wolverine.

IN SUPER POWER EXPLAINED

Magneto is one of the most powerful beings in the Marvel Universe. He is an enemy of the X-Men and an enemy of humanity. Magneto has on multiple occasions, attempted to destroy the human race in order to champion the cause of mutants.

Magneto is known as the Master of Magnetism and an Omega Level mutant. What is Magneto’s super power called Magnetism?

Read on!

Magnetokinesis: Magneto has comprehensive control over all forms of magnetism and utilizes that control to manipulate any metal and achieve a variety of effects. He recently proved able to effectively hold together the headless form of a Celestial. Magneto can manipulate an entire planet’s electromagnetic field and once even pulled back the giant metallic ‘bullet’ where Kitty Pryde was trapped inside, which was at least a few light-years away from Earth, though these are tasks that require great effort on his part. Magneto’s power is comparable with Phoenix’s, he has harnessed magnetism to stop armies, raise islands from ocean floors, move mountains, change the course of rivers, and threaten to devastate the world with floods and earthquakes.

Max Eisenhardt (Earth-616), Marvel Database

Because the Phoenix consumes stars, and Magneto matches her Power Level, it may seem that Magneto’s Power Level is Solar System+.

Let’s dig our comics!

‘X-MEN’ #112

In 'X-Men' (1978) #112, Magneto defeats Phoenix and Wolverine.
In ‘X-Men’ (1978) #112, Magneto defeats Phoenix and Wolverine. Photo/Marvel Comics

In ‘X-Men’ (1978) #112, Magneto uses the super power of Magnetism to match the Phoenix’s cosmic power. Magneto shapes the Earth’s magnetosphere to create a “bottle-effect” around Phoenix, siphoning away her cosmic power.1 Magneto defeats Phoenix. However, this was a Phoenix that was growing in power.

During the ‘Dark Phoenix’ (1980) saga, Phoenix is driven insane by the fires of life and death, and causes the near extinction of the planet D’Bari by consuming its sun. This Power Level is definitely Solar System+.

In 'X-Men' (1980) #135, Phoenix consumes the D'Bari star causes the near extinction of the D'Bari.
In ‘X-Men’ (1980) #135, Phoenix consumes the D’Bari star causes the near extinction of the D’Bari. Photo/Marvel Comics.

At the end of the saga, Phoenix was killed by committing suicide. Of course, Phoenix ultimately resurrected and it turned out that the Phoenix is actually a cosmic firebird Multiversal in Power Level. Nevertheless, In ‘X-Men’ (1978) #112, Magneto was able to match the Phoenix’s power to be Solar System+ Power Level.

HOW POWERFUL IS MAGNETO?

IN ‘AVX:VS’ #1, IRON MAN IN BLEEDING EDGE ARMOR GOES TOE TO TOE WITH MAGNETO WHO WAS SIPHONING THE MAGNETIC ENERGY OF NEARBY PLANETS

In 'AvX: Vs' #1, Bleeding Edge Armor Iron Man goes toe to toe with Magneto.

In ‘Super Power Explained: How Smart Is Iron Man?’, we looked at Iron Man’s Bleeding Edge Armor. In ‘AvX: Vs’ #1, Magneto demonstrated he can siphon the magnetic power of nearby planets in the solar system. Magneto demonstrated at least a Stellar+ Power Level.

Since Magneto displayed Stellar+ power in his battle against Iron Man and was able to match Phoenix’s power, he is at least Stellar+ in Power Level. This indicates Magneto’s higher end power is Solar System+ since he can siphon the energy of nearby planets in the solar system and defeat Phoenix before she became Dark Phoenix.

As a result, Magneto’s Mastery of Magnetism extends to the solar system and is Solar System+ Level.

Iron Man used this armor to battle the Hulk which was a very brutal fight. It was heavily damaged by the collapse of Stark Tower; its remains were briefly possessed by the extradimensional demon named Zom. It was subsequently deactivated and was presumably salvaged by Stark Industries or S.H.I.E.L.D. later.

When Tony Stark undertook his reformed company Stark Resilient, a model of this armor was dismantled and melted.

The Hulkbuster Armor was next used by Iron Man when Captain Marvel rallied the Avengers to capture Bruce Banner. Due to his possession by the One Below All, the Hulk managed to easily overpower the team. The Hulkbuster’s repulsor beams had little effect on the Hulk, and the armor suffered critical manage with a single blow. After the Hulk tore off the armor’s arms, the suit suffered a cascading failure. Tony had to use the armor’s manual release to activate its ejection system. As soon as Tony ejected out of the armor using its detached helmet for propulsion, the armor exploded.

Super Power: The DC Hierarchy Of Intelligence From 12th Level Intellect And Down According To The Races

SUPER POWER

IN POWER LEVEL

THE DC HIERARCHY OF INTELLIGENCE HAS COLUANS AS ITS STANDARD

Coluans. AP Photo/DC Comics.

Firstly, the DC hierarchy of intelligence includes alien races, gods, metahumans, cosmic beings and humans. At the top of the classic DC hierarchy of intelligence are the Coluans. Second, the ranking system stems from the intelligence system from the planet Colu.

Originally, Coluans are aliens from the planet Colu. Historically, heir political system is as advanced technarchy where machines rule the everyday lives of Coluans. In fact, Colu is ruled by the Computer Tyrants, sentient machines that regulate every aspect of Coluan life. To contrast, this is different from Krypton’s former system of government. Here, an advanced state of science and technology created a caste system. However, In both regimes, genetic engineering has reached a very advanced state. Indeed, disease is eradicated and the lifespan is prolonged. As matter of fact, Coluans through genetic manipulation are able to live up to 3600 Earth years.

Certainly, Coluans have a very advanced state of technology and science. As a result, the average citizen on Colu has an 8th-level intellect. Clearly, Colu’s intelligence system is the product of its super-science and of a world ruled by logic, not emotion. In fact, on Colu, life is conserved in immortal cybernetic forms.

Since the Silver Age, Brainiac has been recognized as the most intelligent being in the DC Universe. By Coluan standards, Brainiac is a 12th level intellect. Some time ago, Vril Dox I escaped Colu and Vril Dox II liberated the planet from the Computer Tyrants. Finally, Vril Dox I’s psyche inhabited a robot and became Brainiac. According to his programming, Brainiac can to convert all life in the Milky Way galaxy to digital information. DAMAGE SCALE

In 'Incredible Hulk' #340, Wolverine hunts down the Hulk who sneaks up behind him.

The fight starts out with Wolverine investigating a forest fire at the site of the remains of a truck on fire where Hulk sneaks up on Wolverine and attacks. Wolverine draws first blood and slashes Hulk’s right arm.

WOLVERINE INTERNAL BLEEDING ATTACK: 4 DAMAGE PTS.

On the following page, Hulk hits Wolverine’s sensitive hearing with a thunderclap. Wolverine has a concussion and from there, the fight becomes serious.

HULK CONCUSSION ATTACK: 3 DAMAGE PTS.

Wolverine then goes into Berserker rage and deals Hulk a vicious attack to the thorax, near the heart. Still, Hulk using his healing factors, gets up and keeps fighting. Hulk beats down on Wolverine. Then, Wolverine deals two more attacks to the chest followed with three additional attacks on Hulk’s back. Then, Hulk throws Wolverine into a tree.

WOLVERINE INTERNAL BLEEDING ATTACKS: 20 DAMAGE PTS – 3 PTS HULK HEALING FACTOR (x2) = 14 DAMAGE PTS.
HULK BLUNT FORCE + CONCUSSION ATTACKS = 1 PT + 3 PTS = 4 DAMAGE PTS.

At the end of the battle, Hulk deals Wolverine another Concussion attack. However, the battle ends in a draw when Clay, Hulk’s friend intervenes.

In ‘Silver Surfer’ (1989) #31, the Living Tribunal explains to Silver Surfer and the Stranger about his three faces: his three faces must agree in order for him to make a judgment – The semi-covered face is Vengeance and represents Death, the fully covered face is Necessity and represents Eternity, and the face is Equity and represents Galactus.

In the cosmic hierarchy, Galactus maintains the cosmic order by consuming the living energy of planets, whether they are inhabited or not. Galactus has a cosmic hunger which is his weakness and his burden as a cosmic entity.

In the previous universe, Galan lived on Taa. Upon surviving the destruction of his home universe, Galan incubated in a Cosmic Egg merging with the Sentience of the Universe. Emerging from the Cosmic Egg, he was observed by a Watcher who realized the tremendous power the nascent Galactus possessed to feed on the living energy of planets but the Watcher decided not to kill Galactus.

Sensing his hunger, Galactus consumed the nearby planet of Archeopia.

Read on!

After emerging from his incubation cube millions of years after the Big Bang, Galactus consumed the nearby planet Archeopia; this was the first world to fall prey to his insatiable hunger. Galactus felt compelled to create a monument to his dead homeworld Taa, which existed in the previous universe, and to the ravaged planet Archeopia.

Galactus used the remains of Archeopia as the raw material from which he created the enormous Taa II. Construction took millennia to complete, due to Galactus’s need to take breaks in search of sustenance. When it was completed it engulfed the entire Archeopian System.

Galactus intended Taa II to surpass any natural world in size, beauty and splendor. Based on accounts from the few beings to step foot in it, such as Mister Fantastic, Galactus easily met his goal.

Indeed, Taa II is so massive several planets and even a star are held captive by its gravitational pull.

Super Power: The Flash’s Infinite Mass Punch Is A Time Travel Fighting Technique

IN POWER LEVEL

THE FLASH IS A SPEEDSTER WHO DRAWS POWER FROM HIS CONNECTION TO THE SPEED FORCE

In ‘The Flash’ (2002) #180, Flash (Wally West) draws power from the Speed Force and springs into action. AP Photo/DC Comics

Flash (Wally West) is a speedster and is one of the fastest superheroes in reaction time, combat speed and traveling speed. The Speed Force powers all of Flash’s amazing super powers.

Post-Crisis, Wally West passed from Kid Flash and took up the mantle of Flash. Wally West has more than lived up to the name of Flash and has displayed additional super powers different from Barry Allen.

Read on!

WALLY’S POWERS

Speed Force Conduit: Wally is the fastest of All Flashes perhaps rivaled only by his mentor, Barry Allen. He is arguably the fastest person that has ever existed.[59] He is currently fast enough to easily break all the barriers and even enter the Speed Force. Wally has, on several occasions, traveled much faster than light and entered and exited the Speed Force by his own volition. The Flash is considered to be one of the most formidable and powerful meta-humans on the planet.

Superhuman Speed:  Wally West is by far the fastest being on the planet, according to Max Mercury he’s the fastest man to have ever existed[59], making him one of the most powerful beings to exist. Wally can move faster than thought and with the aid of other JLA members, came up with a plan within 1 second. Wally managed to move so fast that time apparently appeared to be frozen around him. […]

He is able to save and carry over half a million people 35 miles away from a Nuclear Warhead that had already detonated including the ones at ground zero in only .0001 microseconds (10 picoseconds, or 1/100,000,000,000th of 1 second) – a feat that would require moving 13 trillion times the speed of light[61][62]

OUTCOME: FLASH WINS BY KNOCKOUT

Flash’s Infinite Mass Punch is a super power that he draws from his connection to the Speed Force. The Infinite Mass Punch is a super power that allows Flash to overcome relativistic effects and accelerate his mass near infinity. In fact, the mass is accelerated near the mass of a white dwarf star.

In reality, Flash is able to use his time traveling powers in order to do the Infinite Mass Punch. This is because according to special relativity, time dilation is a factor when one approaches the speed of light. This is a difference of relative time between an observer and an object or subject in movement.

The Infinite Mass Punch is a relativistic effect of the Flash’s time traveling super powers from his connection to the Speed Force.

THE INFINITE MASS PUNCH IS TIME TRAVEL

The Infinite Mass Punch is a time travel fighting technique. In the issue, when Flash accelerates his mass to infinity, perception is altered. To Zum, he appears as a continuous beam of light. Though, Flash is not able to access the time-stream. However, Flash does have infinite kinetic energy. Converting his kinetic energy into infinite mass, Flash delivers a punch with an Infinite-Level of Super Strength.

At the same time, the IMP is an extension of time travel. According to general relativity, time dilation is an important factor when approaching the speed of light. In fact, time dilation affects the relative passage of time. In the IMP, time dilation is a factor since both fighters experience time differently. For Flash, time has slowed down. For Zum, time has sped up.

Indeed, the Infinite Mass Punch is an effect of Flash’s Speed Force Conduit. With the Speed Force, Wally is able to transcend general relativity and perform superhuman feats.
