3. BITTEN BY A RADIOACTIVE SPIDER
In Amazing Fantasy (1962) #15, Spider-Man makes his iconic first appearance. In 2002, director Sam Raimi directed the first Spider-Man movie in his Trilogy. Importantly, the film was successful and set Spider-Man’s origin story as tragedy and responsibility.
Unlike the comic, highschooler Peter Parker is visiting an unnamed genetics laboratory and is taking photographs in the movie. In an accident, he is bitten by a “super spider.” In the comic, Peter visits General Techtronics and is bitten by a radioactive spider.

2. VENOM IS BORN
Cinematically, Sam Raimi is a horror and comedy director who excels at fast close-up cinema. In fact, his comic book movies are inspired with kinetic scenes from the source material.
Importantly, Spider-Man 3 features the birth of Venom in a church. After Spider-Man dissociates from the alien symbiote with the bells, Eddie Brock bonds with the alien and becomes Venom. Similarly, Venom is born in Amazing Spider-Man #300 (1988).
1. “SPIDER-MAN NO MORE”
On press day in Culver Studios in 2004, IGN interviewed Sam Raimi about Spider-Man 2. In fact, the director revealed that the importance of the movie is because of the characters’ relationships. In the movie, Peter Parker struggles with his relationship with Mary Jane and his responsibility as Spider-Man.
Importantly, the film is inspired from the Silver Age comic Amazing Spider-Man #50 (1967) titled “Spider-Man No More.” In an iconic scene from the comic, the movie shows Spider-Man’s suit in the garbage can as Peter Parker walks away quitting his crime-fighting career. Gloriously, the film received an Oscar in 2005 for Best Achievement in Visual Effects.
