SYNOPSIS FOR “DARKSEID EQUALS DEATH”
In an attempt to create the Fifth World, the Great Disaster has fallen. Not even the gargantuan might of Jimmy Olsen is sufficient to hold Darkseid in check.
Suddenly, Orion Boom Tubes in Metropolis. To this end, he has come to fulfill the prophecy of Darkseid’s death at his hands.

THE FIGHT
In the issue, Darkseid seeks to create the Fifth World on Earth no matter the cost. Suddenly, Orion boom-tubes on Earth. According to the prophecy, this is the day Orion kills Darkseid!
The battle to decide who is the New God.

 | The fight starts out with Orion blasting Darkseid with the Astro Foce. Soon, it creates a giant blast in space. ORION UNIVERSE-BUSTING + EXPLOSION ATTACKS: 12+ DAMAGE PTS + 5 DAMAGE PTS = 17 DAMAGE PTS. |
| Previously, Orion and Darkseid battled in the explosion. Then, Darkseid hit Orion on the head. On the following page, Darkseid hit Orion on the back with the Omega Effect. On the four next pages, Orion is incinerated and lies on the ground beneath Darkseid’s boots. On the next two pages, Orion frees himself and lands three punches on Darkseid. Pummeling him, Orion has Darkseid on the receiving end on the ground. ORION BLUNT FORCE ATTACK (x3): 1 DAMAGE PT (x3) = 3 DAMAGE PTS. DARKSEID BLUNT FORCE (x3) + UNIVERSE-BUSTING ATTACKS: 1 DAMAGE PTS (x3) + 12+ DAMAGE PTS = 15 DAMAGE PTS. |
| On the final pages, Orion rips out Darkseid’s heart. After, Darkseid disappears in a giant explosion. ORION INTERNAL BLEEDING + EXPLOSION ATTACKS: 4 DAMAGE PTS + 5 DAMAGE PTS = 9 DAMAGE PTS. At the end of the battle, Orion wins leaving behind Darkseid’s ashes. |

DARKSEID IN COMICS
‘Superman’s Pal, Jimmy Olsen’ (1970) #134, titled “The Mountain Of Judgment!”, marks the first cameo appearance of Darkseid in DC continuity. Superman foils a bomb attack on the Hairies, Jimmy Olsen and the Newsboys. The attack was from Morgan Edge who received orders from Darkseid.
The issue was created by Jack Kirby and Neal Adams.
