SILVER SURFER AND THOR ARE MARVEL’S TWO STRONGEST HEROES

In 2021, King in Black concluded with an emphatic victory for Venom and Marvel heroes. After defeating Knull, Venom became the new King in Black endowed with omniscience and omnipotence. Though the power hierarchy at Marvel has changed, two heroes have remained its strongest defenders.

In fact, Silver Surfer and Thor are the heroes the Marvel Universe calls upon during the most critical times. When Knull battled the universe again, he invaded Earth with his hordes of dragons and Klyntar.

When all seemed hopeless, Cosmic King Thor battled Knull one-on-one but was eventually defeated. After, the Enigma Force used Silver Surfer who transported the God of Light to Earth to resume his EPIC battle against Knull. However, the Enigma Force chose Venom as Captain Universe.

Let’s look at how Silver Surfer’s Power Cosmic and Thor’s Enchanted Hammer match against each other across various media.

TV: THE POWER COSMIC IS FOR SPACE TRAVEL

Skelton Jerlene

In 1998, Marvel Entertainment Group produced Silver Surfer: The Animated Series. In a 13-episode season, the series showcased Surfer’s adventures across the cosmos in order to find his homeworld Zenn-La.

For the most part, the cosmic adventures broke story-rules and the finale even had an unexpected ending. However, one important aspect of the character is that the Power Cosmic grants him vast space travel powers.

In fact, the cosmic hero is able to engage in space battles against alien armadas, dodge comets or even travel through wormholes. In the finale, Silver Surfer even travels in a universe where time is flowing backwards!

TV: THOR’S MJOLNIR IS ENCHANTED

In What If? Season 1 Episode 7, in an alternature timeline Thor is raised without his adopted brother Loki. Certainly, he grows up a brash and party-loving youth. On Earth, Captain Marvel comes to stop Thor’s shenanigans.

Then, a rumble follows where both combatants spend more time testing each other than getting serious. In multiple instances, Mjolnir is lost but returns to Thor’s side. Certainly, the enchanted hammer is mystically linked to Thor and is the source of half the god’s power.

FILM: SILVER SURFER CAN DISH OUT PLANET-BUSTING ATTACKS

FilmeyBox

Though critics did not receive the first Fantastic Four film series very well, the movies still succeeded in captivating audiences. In fact, Fantastic Four: Rise of The Silver Surfer delivered awesome action scenes and amazing visuals of Silver Surfer’s CG.

In fact, CBR.com commended the production team on the character design, on Silver Surfer’s other-worldliness and the use of his powers. Perhaps, the most exhilarating scene is the Human Torch‘s high-speed chase of SS from the New York overpass all the way to the upper atmosphere.

However, the conclusion of the movie raises the stakes. In order to save the Earth from impending doom, Silver Surfer dishes out a planet-busting attack and destroys the Devourer of Worlds. Here, the FX are a bit disappointing as Galactus appears as a cosmic space storm.

FILM: THOR’S MJOLNIR CAN BLOW UP A CITY

RAZR

Certainly, Marvel Avengers: Age of Ultron performed massively at the box office internationally. However, at Rottentomatoes, critics criticized the film’s over-the-top action and villain. Nevertheless, the movie showed how much the Avengers can accomplish as a squad.

In the final battle, Thor and the Avengers have to battle Ultron and his robot copies in Sokovia in the air. And their objective is to protect the drill, Ultron wants to activate in order to send Sokovia into free fall. In the end, they manage to destroy most of the copies as well as the prime A.I.

However, one of the remaining sentries manages to activate the drill. As Sokovia enters free fall, Iron Man speeds to the bottom of the city, and Thor at the top. When Iron Man overloads the drill, Thor delivers a massive blast of lightning that destroys the city.

COMIC: SILVER SURFER CREATED THE SEEDS OF LIFE

In 'Silver Surfer' (2019) #5, Silver Surfer transforms his board into a sword.

In Silver Surfer: Black, the Sentinel of the Spaceways travels through a black hole and accidentally ends up at the beginning of time. In an effort, to end the threat of Galactus, Surfer ends up fighting Knull, the God of the Living Abyss.

Outmatched, Silver Surfer is contaminated by Knull’s darkness and is turning black. In their final battle, the Sentinel of the Spaceways realizes the threat to the universe. In order for darkness not to consume the beginning, Silver Surfer creates a star.

As the new Galactus is born with the universe, the light of the Surfer is the seed for the new universe. Incredibly, Silver Surfer manages to rout the powerful Knull.

COMIC: COSMIC KING THOR EXECUTED GALACTUS

Thor (2020) #6. Marvel Comics.

Perhaps, one of the most ground-breaking developments in Thor continuity. In order to stem the Black Winter, Galactus and Silver Surfer recruit King Thor’s help. Endowed with the Power Cosmic and Mjolnir, he becomes Cosmic King Thor, Herald of Thunder.

In the conclusion of the story arc, Thor actually executes Galactus for his numerous crimes and genocides using the powerful God blast.
