In the 41st century, Kang the Conqueror plots in order to become master of all time. However, one obstacle remains in his conquest: the Avengers! In order to finally defeat his foe, Kang peers through time with his tempovision. Finally, he has a plan. Quickly, he hurtles through in a spheroid to World War I. However, he is trapped in a time-storm. Since it might damage his craft, he returns to the 41st century. In order to find someone strong enough to survive the time-storm, Kang locates Hulk in the 20th century. Then, bringing him to his time, Kang tells Hulk his plan.
Slyly, the Green Goliath must travel to World War I. Specifically, his mission is to stop the Phantom Eagle from destroying a cannon of the Axis Powers. What Kang, however, does not say is that, the cannon will destroy a town where Hulk’s ancestors lived. Indeed, Kang correctly determined that the Avengers were formed to stop
In ‘Avengers’ (1963) #1, the Avengers make their spectacular debut. To begin, Loki is imprisoned on the Isle of Silence on Odin’s order. Sinisterly, the God of Evil blames Thor. In his latest scheme, he plans to bring Thor to the Isle to get his revenge. Using thought projection, Loki travels to Earth and after long hours, he located the incredible Hulk. Mentally, he creates an illusion before Hulk’s sight of dynamite on the train tracks. Misjudging his super strength, Hulk leaps and destroys the train tracks.
In order to save an incoming train, Hulk stands on a boulder and supports the damaged tracks. Though the train passes safely, Hulk is once again a wanted man. Finding out about recent reports, the Teen Brigade contacts the Fantastic Four. Unbeknownst to them, Loki intercepts their radio wave, sending it to Dr. Blake’s office. Hearing the signal, Dr. Blake strikes the ground with his cane and transforms into Thor.
Meanwhile, other super heroes intercept the radio waves. Soon, Thor, Iron Man, Ant-Man and Wasp join the Teen Brigade at their headquarters. During the meeting, Thor spots Hulk outside.
Springing into action, Thor hurls his hammer at Hulk. Incredibly, it passes through Hulk. Seeing it is a mental image, Thor realizes he has been duped by Loki. On the rainbow bridge, the God of Thunder travels to Asgard.
Since the heroes are hunting him down, Hulk disguises as Mechano the robot-man and works at a circus. Unfortunately, his incredible feats of strength draw the attention of Ant-Man’s army of ants. Pym suspects he is Hulk. Quickly, he heads to the location with Wasp and Iron Man. Within moments, the heroes arrive at the circus.
There, Ant-Man and the Wasp engage Hulk in battle. Soon, they manage to get Hulk out of his disguise. When Wasp is held within Hulk’s giant hands, Iron Man intervenes. Incredibly, a duel follows that takes both fighters across states. In Detroit, Hulk and Iron Man are locked in battle. Finally, Iron Man manages to imprison Hulk in a steel grapple. At that moment, Thor arrives.
In the last pages, Thor reveals Loki to be the mastermind of the hunt. Wickedly, he used Hulk to gaud Thor into a combat on the Isle of Silence. When Hulk attempts to fight Loki, the God of Mischief turns radioactive.
Then, it’s up to Ant-Man and Wasp to save the day. Silently commanding his army of ants, Ant-Man orders a trap door beneath Loki’s feet. Amazingly, Loki is imprisoned in a lead-lined tank. For a few minutes, Loki will remain radioactive until Thor returns him to Asgard. In the end, the Avengers form in order to be an unbeatable team.
